As terrific as this recording scene happens to be, this entire film is simply flawless. In my opinion, from front to back, this is one of the best movies ever made. This movie deserves to be held in high regard; right up there with any other so-called classic film that is held in high regard. Every performance in this film, was absolutely amazing! I think it's time to rewatch this great movie!

“Can I say “fo”?” I felt her dedication in my soul❤️. Lite Skin writing down immediately what DJAy wants to say.I Think this was the most pivotal part of the movie. When she’s shocked by how her voice sounds, she’s realizing she is a winner! Everyone is syncing with all the same goal to support the dream. If you didn’t believe in them by this part, this ain’t the movie for you, much respect.
Best part of the movie
@@dexteredwards2048 agree!
I'm seriously honestly not the type to get emotional over any movie but for whatever reason I get chills, smile and teary eyed all at the same time when the beat comes on and it shows Shug and she just can't believe how she sounds on the track. It's like every one of us are even more than what we may think of ourselves at any given moment. Sometimes it just has to be unlocked. This was a truly powerful and inspiring scene.
🙏🥲
She's about one of the best to ever do it. She makes you feel like you know her for real.

Terrace Howard is a goddamn legend. All the actors owned their rolls and gave us a stellar performance. Soundtrack, platinum.
The fact that he had beef with the man next door and put his pride to the side to ask for a Lil silence was everything. He believed in himself more than anybody. Lol I'm just here randomly and happy
He's such a natural actor that he just makes you believe with every role he plays. Love Terrance Howard!
the man next door is DJ Paul, the actual producer of the music in this film. Along with Juicy J,- Three 6 Mafia.
@@stashsoprano also notice how RL grabs the weed with his left hand in the scene and they don’t show his right arm. That’s because DJ Paul was born with a small right arm. He calls it his baby arm.

"Did I fuck up?" "Wait dis my mufuckin house mane." As a producer, that shit funny af.
As a singer, songwriter producing my own music back in the day before all of this technology that made it easy for everybody, I can truly relate to this scene of discovering lightning in a bottle, trying to run with it and desperately needing as much silence as possible to get it recorded as cleanly as possible.
DJ Qualls is one of my favorite actors of all time. The talent packed in that tiny dude is one of the most unique careers I've ever seen

You and Rashad Jamal are my favorite so far in terms of enlightenment. Much love and Respect.
Classic. The energy he put on is INCREDIBLE!!!
I mentioned this in another comment but the first time I saw this, I wasn't thinking "oh, this is TH." Right? Most movies I watch, I normally ID the actor and then try to buy the role their playing.
Throughout this movie, I never did that. The whole time, it was all DJ. That's so rare.
And it's a crime he didn't win Best Actor for this. I'm not kidding. Literally nobody, I don't care if Meryl Streep was playing a man or if Tom Hanks was playing a woman that year, nobody did anything better than what TH did as DJ.
You nailed. His energy was incredible. Every bit of it was full on. It isn't often a character can make you love him one second, hate him the next, then get up on your feet and dance a split second later lovin' his ass again.
