- In this video I talk about the various Retellings, Translations and Adaptations of the Original Sanskrit Version of Mahabharata written by Maharshi Veda Vyasa into various languages of the Indian Subcontinent and beyond.
There are so many books which have been written on the Mahabharata that it is a never ending saga!
Mahabharata is an Epic, an Itihasa, a Purana of Bharata Varsha.

Finally a Hindu channel on UA-cam in English! I just subscribe to your channel, because i want to know more about Hinduism so i am quite new to this. I thought that the Bhagavagita was the only scripture (how wrong i was), there is also the Mahabharata. Man i am so full of questions that i don't know where to start! Do you recommend first reading the Mahabharata or the Bhagavagita? I have heard that a Hindu must avoid meat, fish, alcohol and coffee. That are THE things that i love the most. So that is going to be hard. But i also heard that there are Hindu's who DO eat meet. So i am confused 😂😂😂. Anyway i hope to find answers here on in some other way. Can i give you a compliment? Ma'am in my opinion gita press version is best . It is available in hindi and also in telugu in 6 or 7 volumes
There is a very famous Tamil version called " Villi Bharatham" also. Pls explore that too

Geeta press and Southern kumbakonam edition is most authentic available mahabharata.
I intend to read the Mahabharata in English, BUT I want to be able to pronounce the names in correct Sanskrit. Is there a source with audios or at least internal phonetic alphabet transcription? Or, if all gods are in graceful mood a list of characters ordered after appearance AND with pronunciation? I would use Bibek Debroy's translation.

I am currently reading KMG available online. You can try anything. It all depends on which is your preference.

U forgot Marathi version, bhalbha kelkar 8 volumes, in Marathi , vidarbha company and chiplunkar mandali, but now only bhalbha kelkar translation available, others out of print

Bori is not authentice .. southern (kumbakonam) version of mahabharata is most authentic edition..
Geeta press edition is also okay. Bori is not authentic.
Please guide on an authentic source to read mahabharatha without interpretations.

Try Kisari Mohan Ganguly's translation of the Mahabharata. I am currently reading that. You can easily download that online. It's available freely. 🙏

Check out the online IIT version. Where they are doing with conjunction with the sanskrit University.
Mahabharat from CLAY Sanskrit Library , New York .
It is a translation with Sanskrit verses and English translation on opposite pages .
But it is incomplete .
C Rajgopalachari ' s Mahabharat is a brief retelling which follows the original story .
