@@andromeda_3136 Pending ticks are how the game knows what to do in unloaded areas. Like if you send redstone off to an unloaded area it makes a pending tick. Then the next time you load that area the pending tick resolves and thus the redstone activates. Most pending ticks are not bad and get resolved just fine! But when there is major major lag from like mobs or xp, pending ticks can get stuck. Like if there is a pending but then the entity related to the pending disappears, the pending is still there but has no target. With alllllll other farms basically, even at the worst case you get a couple of unresolvable pending ticks. But portal ticking gold farms generate 100s of unresolvable pending ticks per use. Once you get a few 1000, your world's file size will be several gigs, lag will creep in and eventually redstone will stop working or be inconsistent. Not to mention every unresolvable pending puts more strain on the device running the game. On a pc you can just delete the pendings, but on console or mobile they are there forever :< So on console & mobile, if you plan on keeping a world for a long time, it's best to totally avoid portal ticking gold farms. @@Danielruth42 Oh took my brain a second haha So portal ticking gold farms generate 100s of unresolvable pending ticks per use. There are several influencing factors, from how efficiently the mobs are killed, how quickly xp is disposed of, how big the portals are, how many chunks they cross, etc etc. Basically a chunk can only process so much information at any given time & portal ticking not only overloads this information, but also generates pendings in the nether & can generate even more unresolvables if lag gets really bad from mob count, light updates, block updates & xp build up. Every unresolvable pending tick that is created is there to stay & the game constantly tries to process them. So the more pending ticks a world has the file size starts to inflate causing longer loading times and lag. The game's processing is always bogged down from trying to resolve the ticks so it becomes laggier and puts more strain on the device running the game. Eventually random chunks become so overwhelmed that it generates crazy lag in random parts of the world, then eventually breaks hopper and clock consistency. If ignored past that point chunks start flat out corrupting and vanishing from existence haha. Depending on the size of the portals, the efficiency and all that, a sp world could run the farm for like 30 hours before problems start becoming noticable. But every use permanently inflates the processing and data until the pendings are manually deleted on a pc. I've seen it over and over from severs to sp worlds. But if you don't have a pc, and want to keep the world for a long time, definitely avoid portal ticking. Also there are some videos that claim to not generate pending ticks, but they are lying lolol Regardless of how it is built, portal ticking will always generate unresolvables. Think of it this way, per second it activates. Even if it is just 1 30x30 portal. That's 900 block updates, up to 19,000 light updates, mob spawning & pathfinding, xp, pistons, tridents. Lava block updates + 2 clocks. Nether pending to check for portal and have a chance of pig summoning. Plus anything else that is going on in the world. Just in 1 second lol Had a friend recently build one of the "no pending portal ticking farms" and the realm lagged out in less than a week lmao You can also see the build up in a way by looking at the file size of the world.
