Ever since I found out about you guys a few years ago, every single song released since has been among my absolute favourites. Not a single miss or sideways step; just greatness upon greatness. No other band has done this for me besides VOLA, despite me absolutely loving those other bands as well. You guys are phenomenal, and the tastefulness and skill with which Nicolai plays is just a great demonstration of what makes this band amazing; simplicity intertwined with tasteful complexity, musicality, groove, and aggression.
This right here proves you don't need a custom fan fret bass to achieve the down tuned sound. Tuning up (in this case to F#) sounds fuckin clean and musical! Enjoyed them when they came to Dallas! Such a pleasure!
When I was 16yo I idolized Ryan Martinie who played a Warwick thumb. It was my dream instrument but was forever out of my reach. Played music forever, owned countless amounts of different gear - bass gear, drums, PA gear, recording gear, guitars - a forever revolving collection - sell something to buy something… In my 40’s now, 13 years since the last time I owed or touched any gear - it’s music like this that makes me sorely miss music. I used to be good… played in many different bands from highly complex black metal to top 40 rock…. Growing up sucks sometimes.

Indeed, Line 6 Helix board. High freqs are mostly done using the amp labelled as Epic. I do not own any software/hardware from Line 6, so this is as far as I can go right now.
Nicolai's playing is such a big part of why VOLA is one of the best! Killer tone and incredible playing! He's a really stellar backing vocalist too!
