Love Annie - she’s brilliant and articulate- but what I love most about her is her truly kind, tender authentic spirit ! Love this lady

I’d heard about her quite a bit but never read her(sorry!!). I just left 21 years of active law practice for a slower, more mindful life and decided it was finally time to start writing real stuff instead of legal memos and briefs. One piece of advice I got was to read someone who’d written something along the lines of what you want to write. I did a Google search on how to write well about ordinary life. Anne Lamott’s name was the first that came up. So I’m reading Operating Instructions. Thank you, Anne Lamott for giving me permission to write about Jesus and how fortunate I am that He’s been following me all my life (btw - thank you Dorothy Day, for that line!)

I find it interesting that I had almost the same story of religious awakening...only in complete reverse, and we both ended up perfectly satisfied with our decisions.

Anne! Like you I’m almost 70 and sober for 37 of those. Life still throws you curveballs but the reservoir to draw from is deeper. Doing some of my best mountain biking which I credit to the California beach. 💕💜💕💜

I'm glad you said you're a fraud. You're so enjoyable to listen to right up to your exasperated "Trump". Where's the love? You creatively look at life but when it comes to judgement of him, you blow it out the window. Last book I'll buy of yours.

Oh elaine, that’s a hoot. If you’re not exasperated by tRump you may want to evaluate your standards

Um, you’re also judging. I ask you, ‘where’s the love’? We’re all frauds including you.

Where's the love? How about the love of country and what Trump with his lies and slutty behavior has done to our democracy? What a weird perspective you have. Hypocrite.

It's amazing how people proclaim "love" and how it's the answer to every problem yet when someone doesn't agree with any part of their agenda then the "love" evaporates to leave behind vehement spite and loathing
