Such as these poor homeless tourists and the bad image they are promoting of Tunisia and their attempt to portray the manifestations of poverty and desert makes you think what will Tunisia benefit from the homeless and poor who visit it other than distorting it!? The Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Tourism are intervening

Tunisia's constitution means a secular state with many Christians and Jews and a country of freedoms. Islam is not the state religion. The Tunisian state is secular, but the majority of the people are Muslim by inheritance and by name, that is. Among them are those who are religiously committed and those who do not understand anything about the religion of Islam. Every person is free, and most of them are not committed. For example, Tunisian law criminalizes what is permitted by religion, and the opposite is true. For example, Tunisia is one of the Arab and African peoples who consume the most alcohol. In short, Tunisia is not Iran and its people are white-skinned. Do not compare us to sub-Saharan Africans.

Thank you so much for saying such nice things about my country. It's heart-warming. Usually we mostly hear insults, complaints, expressions of disappointment and people looking down on us so that's quite a change! Thanks again. Much appreciated.

The most touristy places in Tunisia
    Djerba

That's what I've been telling to other travellers as a Tunisian.
Tunisia is one of the cheapest touristic countries in the world. Food is amazing and comes with big portions, mix between culture and history., people are cheerful..
There is a lot to explore in other cities too
Maybe the downside is the poor infrastructure and lack of convenient public transportation, and it's not the best when it comes to using digital services.

in the 9th century, Sicily was invaded by the Aghlabids, a Muslim dynasty based in North Africa (Tunisia). By the 10th century, it came under the control of the Fatimid Caliphate, also based in Tunisia, and later the Kalbids, a dynasty that ruled Sicily on behalf of the Fatimids.
Norman Conquest: In the late 11th century, the Normans conquered Sicily, ending Muslim rule and establishing the Kingdom of Sicily.

Sidi Bousaid used to be a religious town, when religious people gather to pray and stay away from the materialistic capital to seek some quietness and spirituality. Sidi Bousaid is called the town of 400 saints, because 400 saints are burried there. The legend says that the steps that lead all the way down to the port are actually tombs of 355 saints, the 5 other saints are burried in other places in sidi bousaid. One of the saints is burried at "Café des Nattes", his name is Sidi fawah el misk 'the saint who smells good like musk).
Sid Bousaid was named after a saint, bousaid: Sidi (saint) Bousaid.

    • @HobartsAbroad
      @HobartsAbroad  Рік тому +5

Definitely! There were even cheaper places. 1. we booked last minute and 2. we didn't need 2 bedroom. The house sleeps 6 people so $200 for 6 people is better than for 2 people 😅

we must stop saying that Sidi bou Saïd is the “Santorini of Africa”.
Historically, it is exactly the opposite!
On August 28, 1915, a decree was issued to ensure the protection of the village, imposing the blue of Sidi Bou Saïd and the white as desired by Baron d'Erlanger.
While the combination of white and blue was introduced in the early 1930s during the dictatorship of Metaxas, in Greece in a quest for order and uniformity.
So, it is false to claim that Sidi bou Saïd looks like Santorini. It is rather the opposite that should be titled.

Her boyfriend is white is your lightest person in Tunisia is not even close to his skin tone. You are still African.
