    THANKS for some fine nautical journalism! Thanks also to Beneteau for providing enough time on board for a meaningful working review.

    ahh a "real yacht review" superb viewing the Swift Trawler 35 got a fantastic 'real life' review we see every part of the boat and clear explanations/ opinions on the new changes, excellent! - really wish the Princess 62 got this kind of a review? and in my opinion Jack is charismatic and effortless in his yacht reviews, big thumbs up Jack keep up the great work.

    Ahh Jack a future Aqualholic No.2?
    Great review Jack, although I did chuckle seeing you grimace at having to sleep on the bunk! But you demonstrated well as a good sport, so very well done.
    I know La Rochelle very well, especially the waft of fresh fish being cooked in an array of fresh garlic, which incidentally is green not this pale rubbish we get here in the UK.
    This little boat looks like a good entry as a day boat and probably a long weekender, I just wonder how rough the waters were when you were experiencing your trip.
    Why so many of you?
    Anyway thanks for showing.

    I like the smaller Swift trawlers; and I would like to see them ditch the cabinet that Jack complained about and put in a small chair, so when you do have two couples on board there can be opposed seating.

    Quite good and original idea for a boat review. Please do more like this! In regards the boat, really nice layout and handy for its size

    Unlike what it's being said, it seems the engine has been updated from the 34. The Cummins QSB 6.7 425 Slim Line is compliant with EPA Tier 3 & RCD2 and been upgraded for marine usage from the QSB 6.7-425. Some (all?) 34 were powered by the QSB 5.9-425

    I think this would make a better review going forward. You can get a better sense using it for 48 hours.

    Very well presented Jack, It's a shame that you couldn't get a proper bunk but you made do. The boat seems like an excellent way to cruise. Count me as a new subscriber, Cheers!

    I really like the Swift 30 Better $$$ then the 47/50 are of course great but if you could only afford a 30 model you'd be doing very well for yourself (imo)

    Minimes marina, La Rochelle is our home port, we often cruise around Isle de Re. You could have flown direct to our airport from UK.

    • @russcattell955i
      @russcattell955i 7 років тому

      We are now living the life of French peasants since buying a boat, actually there is a grass airfield on the edge of our hamlet. Seriously though, I meant the airport at La Rochelle, you can fly in from, Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham, Dublin, Stanstead, Bristol & Southampton. A short bus or taxi ride to the waterfront. I'm sounding like the tourist board but we love it & happy to share with you. I'll be happy to answer any more questions you may have, if I can.

    What’s the point of the asymmetric side decks? I know you have more room to get around one side but does it look weird optically?

    • @timdaniel5395
      @timdaniel5395 6 років тому +1

      No, it doesn't.

    • @seikibrian8641
      @seikibrian8641 5 років тому +1

      "What’s the point of the asymmetric side decks?"
      Form follows function. As you said, you have more room to get around. With the helm station and side door on the starboard side, one would normally dock starboard-side to, and that gives plenty of room for line handling and such. They could also widen the port side deck, but that would cut into interior space in the galley and saloon. "Looking weird" is a non issue.

    Amazed and saddened to see Jack on the aft deck at sea, with the boat at speed, with no lifejacket on!?
    You guys are supposed to be professionals so what sort of example does that set?
    Otherwise a great review of a lovely boat.

      He's actually up on the boat deck (although with the telescoping davits it's not actually used for stowing a boat anymore), but yes, he should be wearing a PFD.

  • @boringfunny2767

    How far would this boat be able to go on 1 tank of fuel?

    • @seikibrian8641
      @seikibrian8641 5 років тому +1

      It depends on your speed, but in one test I've seen it burned 14.5 gallons per hour at 2600 RPM, for 14.8 MPH and a range of 194 statute miles plus reserves. At WOT of 3075 RPM it burned 21.8 GPH for 20.6 MPH and 179 miles. That test didn't show lower speeds, but at "slow boat to China" speeds, similar models often get over well 500 miles of range at similar fuel burn rates. The Swift Trawler 30, for example goes between 220 and 253 miles at the higher speeds, and 843 miles at displacement speed of 1250 RPM @ 6.9 MPH, all while maintaining a 10% reserve.

    Despite Jack's misgivings, I wouldn't mind also seeing the 44 lose the mast and boom and go with the arch too.

    The 52 is the best in the swift trawler range. New vertical front window on the 50 and 44 is horrid. Plus you call that rough weather? you Mediterranean folk don't know what rough sea is now. My 16 footer would handle these seas with ease at 22 knots
