    damn people are ruthless in the comment section lol, shit happens when performing live sometimes. tech fails, and isn't a reflection of the artist unless it happens all the time or something haha. when you play complex/difficult music, you're bound to miss sometimes. people want them jumping around the stage like their playing simple pop punk riffs or something - you have to actually focus when playing difficult music, which means being stationary compared to being able to divert your attention/focus away from playing during the show. you ever seen a Tool concert? those dudes aren't jumping around the stage either, 'cause you have to focus on playing the instrument to nail the piece.

    • @jescollo
      @jescollo 2 роки тому

      You have to see what people are talking about tho. All the videos I’ve seen it’s very low energy the music and them. It’s just extremely technical but not anything you can groove to. TOOL is the opposite, the music is high energy and fucking grooves. High energy music plus all the visual elements happening = high energy stage presence regardless of what the members are doing. This band just isn’t a good live show, It’s strictly technical playing that doesn’t really groove and they don’t have much stage presence. Doesn’t help if you don’t nail the technical part

      People nowadays praising Polyphia just jumped on the bandwagon when they saw there was trap in Most Hated EP and NLND.
      Still think Polyphia just sold themselves to make more money from their music : there's nothing bad with this, but come on, there's people here overhyping Polyphia for whatever unrealistic reason, it's litterally Kanye/Y2K/Pop beats and vibes with guitar gimmicks (Tim himself call them " flex here and there ") since Most Hated EP.
      Even during the Muse/Renaissance Era, their live performance sucked kinda occasionally, and lots of folks thought " Hey, Polyphia are doing some Intervals " , but hey you do you guys.

    I played in lots of hardcore bands growing up. And we never used metronomes and never had to use in ear monitors. And I loved playing our music cause it felt and sounded so organic and got people hyped and it was just heavy as fuck.
    Then I played drums in a metalcore band that sounded like bands like For the Fallen Dreams , as well as lead guitar in a band that was more like all shall perish. And in those bands we always had in ears. And metronomes and everything had to be perfect. And I donno it made playing live feel much less fun and much more like work.

      True. May as well just have a computer drummer at that point. One of the best things about live performances is the random factor of they may not play it exactly as it is on the album and that's what it's all about. Music is always evolving and should hardly be played the same way twice. I'll teach your grandmother to suck eggs!

      Metronomes are crutches. Musicians in a band need to feel and feed off of each other's playing to create a musical experience that the audience feels; that moves them emotionally and physically. These guys are technicians -- uber-clinical and sterile. They appeal to wannabe neo-shredders that are impressed with blurry scales and pseudo emotion. Once the buzz dies down no one will remember them...Poly who?
