When you are over the x on the map, look at your coordinates and move around in the same chunk the x is in until the chunk coordinates read (9, x, 9) and mine down. I might’ve explained that poorly but there is a trick in finding the chests every single time, first try
another tip with buried treasures i find helpful since the butt out technique rarely works; buried treasure always spawns in the 9~9 (x-z) coordinates of the treasure chunk !! so if you go on those coordinates for the chunk, you'll always find it digging down. is a speedrunning trick thats super helpful normal game

With the treasure map you are right about the butt of the arrow but you need to be facing north. if you are facing north you will be looking down at the correct square to mine.

a little tip for villagers, you can take all their beds and place the beds in a hole and then ring the village bell, all of them will go where all the beds are so you get all the villagers in one place, good luck for this series bro:)
