I worked at a hotel in Vegas during Monster Cup. I have dealt with celebrities and even Presidents. I have never been so scared and starstruck when I dealt with MC. I have idolized him my whole life. I was leaving work a few days later walking through the casino, he literally stopped me and remembered my name. Most memorable time I have ever had with a true hero!
I dealt with it coming from MC too. His parents live up the freeway from me in SoCal. I know his family on a first name basis and have gotten to know MC the same way. His dad builds hot rods and used to run into them a lot at local car shows. Being a young kid I was absolutely dumbfounded. He’s such a solid dude.
Whats really great is ive heard probably 50-100 ppl with similar storys about him being a genuine wholesome HERO lol .. I dont think ive ever heard a fan or anyone say he has treated them poorly in which makes him the best legend in my eyes##1
Jeremy single handledly brought the sport to another level.. i think most everyone would acknowledge. He brought in big name sponsors that never gave Pro Motocross a 2nd thought. He had a bunch of toys made of him. Just a class act & great ambassador for our sport. -Ohio
Mcgrath is a total stud and just the best human. I remember a local race in Utah in 2008 where he raced all day and won everything and then stayed after the race for like 4 hours to make sure everyone had a chance to meet him, get an autograph, or even snap a picture. Best rider of all time in my opinion. Took moto to a whole new level and into the mainstream. He set up paths for countless riders after him. Jeremy, thanks for all you did for my favorite sport. Fan for life!
Me too! Same thing at pontiac 2000 they came twice and both times i got crudentials and 1st time i got a killer photo of M.C and R.L and the next pontiac in 2000 they both signed my blown up picture. Still got it on my trophy case.
Jeremy has always been a great ambassador for our sport, I’m 64 and now my Grandsons race and ride, he made it desirable for average people by not being a boneheaded athlete throwing away his prestige on stupid nonsense! ❤
Some say you shouldn’t meet your hero’s as you will be disappointed, Jeremy is the exception to that rule! As busy a guy as he is he is genuine and kind!! Thanks Jeremy for being you!
Jeremy is a good dude, great for the sport. The opening of Steel Roots, Symphony of Destruction, Jeremy riding wheelies on the railroad tracks. We wore that VHS tape out. Good times.
Congrats on 3yrs Donn and what a fun ride it’s been watching you succeed and grow into one of the best motocross channels, if not the best on UA-cam. Your calm classy approach is the main reason I say that and why I enjoy it so much. You’ve always done things your way and stay out of the drama and keep focused on bringing all of us all this top notch content. You’re a real gem Donn. Thank you.
It's been said a million times, I'm sure, but Jeremy is such a respectable guy. As big of a star that he is in our sport, he doesn't speak to anyone differently, he just treats everyone so well. I love that he is still the same Jeremy from the 90s. I met him in 1996 at the Denver SX, got his autograph and just remember being starstruck, but also pleasantly surprised; he was just so incredibly kind. I was about 14 yrs old. It was such a memorable moment to meet such a huge figure in the sport and discovering how absolutely nice he was 🙏🏻
Canyon Lake in the 90s was the best place to live, I really wasn't anyone special but got to go to a few house parties at MCs house the guy is just a fun person to be around. Lots of good memories at that ol lake house .. Truly will remember those times forever.. Class Act. for sure..
It’s funny how life works, Jeremy’s time with Suzuki wasn’t as successful as he deserved, but for me the 1997 season was a turning point in the sport, until then nobody ever said no to Honda, what for me was mind blowing, I am originally from Brazil and Honda there was so dominant that almost killed the interest in the sport, I always thought that Jeremy would retire as a red rider so I was losing the interest in the sport here, then out of the blue he turned the table and did the Suzuki deal. That reminded me when Senna in 1993 raced with an inferior car and still won several races finishing in second the championship, and he said something that I live by until this day “Every year we have a winner but not every year we have a Champion”. Jeremy is a true champion in life, always down to earth and really cool!
McGrath is the MAN!! I raced motocross from 12 to 18 til I went pro surfing. But McGrath is why I raced. I pulled for him every weekend. Got other favs. But Jeremy is the GOAT!!!
I still to this day have never seen anyone corner as fast as Jeremy on that Suzuki during sx, he should of won that series but he had some bad luck, legend 👌
This was just about all the questions I had wanted to hear answers to in one interview. Thank you both for sitting down and taking the time to do this one it was great.
So cool to hear Jeremy talk about looking for jumps while he's driving around. I started doing that as a kid and I still do it today. Obviously, he's looking at bigger stuff to jump than I am but it's great to know that he's still a kid at heart.
I bought a tribute BMX bike -- blue with gold anodized rims and with Yamaha and all of his sponsors' stickers during his Yamaha era. You were not different, Jeremy...you were special!
First and foremost would like say thank you Jeremy! Both of my sons idolized you and you responded graciously be it mini sx or year’s later at Elsinore in the vintage class . You did get lucky when I told my youngest to not take you out or i wouldn’t talk to him anymore ❤
I'm 36. This man was my childhood idol. I owe a lot to him and never even had the chance to meet him. I still like to pretend I'm him on the weekends at the track.
So true about that music from steel roots! The megadeath song is the beginning of SR1 and my kid was 2 yrs old and when he hears it to this day now at 25 hes like hey i know this from M.Cs video
This guy is just as cool as he always has been. I love it. Same thing is true about skateboarding, once a skateboarder always a skateboarder and dirt biker. I’m always looking for skate spots or a nice moto hit and I’m 40. I can’t shut it off nor want to.
I got a sweet 1998 YZ250. Kept it in the corner of my garage till my son was big and skilled enough to handle it. Its a great bike. Wish i could find a factory sub frame for it tho. OEM bends real easy
Boston SAM Same, 1998 YZ250 tricked out, nothing stock on the bike except the fuel tank & fuel cap. Titanium subframe, Emig Racing clamps, Talon hubs, Excel rims & spokes, DSP carbon fiber skid plate & powervalve cover, extensive crank & cylinder work, works # plate vented, suspension front/rear is done (again)…full Pro Circuit exhaust (tuned to motor); so I agree with you, I like the 1998 YZ250! Enjoy riding! I’m doing the same saving it for my son til he can enjoy it too. I’m 52 and ride regularly still. Take care!
So kick ass you had the king on the show i was almost about to ask again about him like where the hell is M.C. these days i swear you read all of our minds!
Come on man!!!! This is the 10th McGrath interview. LOTW daily!!!!!! Let's F'ing GOOOOO!!! You don't realize LOTW is the best stuff you have and could probably triple the views! Do I need to do your marketing?! 😂😂
When I was 18 racing 125 expert I remember seeing him at a big race at Sandhill Ranch hanging with the other 80 cc kids and I believe his dad had a box van with his name painted on the side which at the time was strictly for the best riders. He was probably a novice or intermediate and I thought to myself who is this kid? I'll never forget that and have been a fan ever since he turned pro.
I always wondered what was the deal with Steve Lamson taking MC out like that. I never heard anything or his excuse🙄 for accidentally taking him out twice in one race.
Talking about Dave & Chaparral Calling Deegan & others squid's that had to go 😂 I guess it worked out for Deegan who were the others on that small team #Showtime
Met him briefly in ‘97 in Maryland during the outdoor nationals. Anybody catch Don’s comment about a knee replacement? I got a titanium one also on my right knee, wonder if MC got some fancy ‘works’ hardware with his. I would be interested to know what specialized knee therapy he does to keep up with it.
So I used to love transworld motocross. Then life happened and I left the sport for a while. Now I’m getting back into it. What happened to transworld?
Every time I met MC, whether at the track or at Chaparral, he was always very cool and friendly. I even emulated him in the late 90's, wearing his Fox and No Fear Chaparral gear, which I still have, putting the same decals on my YZ250's (to be fair though, I was on Yamahas before he switched over from Suzuki, lol) and he's almost a year younger than me! And I was riding and racing in SoCal at the time! I was also bleaching my hair white blond! 🤦🏻♂️ What a pathetic fanboy I was. Other riders at Glen Helen or Elsinore were probably laughing at me 😅 Oh well 🤷🏻♂️ I wrote the review for "Steel Roots 2" in Racer X and have one of his jerseys signed and framed. One thing he did in '94 was get a horrible start in Houston and had to come thru the pack to zap Emig for the lead
Hey Jeremy, I built a small track in the top yard for my grandsons but when my granddaughters roll around they act like they own it . What should I do ? Their kinda rude
Always had it always will. That’s actually a DLR phrase from 1980 but who remembers that. It’s mine now. I,m 5 yrs older than Jeremy. I saw him race in 91 to 98 a few times. Including 97 indy things went sideways in that one. Cold outside Mc still signed autographs at the back of the rig. I sent my girlfriend up to get 1 for my pals kid. Minneapolis on chore was cool with numerous nac nacs, etc. for his 1st win. MC has the same dob as Alex Puzar 11-19. Mine 11-18 . My 1st Mx bike 11-18-89 a 87 cr125. MC 1st pro bike 89 cr125. MC 1st win 1990. My 1st race ever & won a 125a moto full gate.
I think dangerboy more so but jett aswell are the individuals in supercross now taking it to a new level that without Jeremy and Brian deegan wouldn't have the pathways to be themselves

I remember when he did his book signing at our local Walmart and he remembered me by first name. I was like 10 or so years old at that point in time.
Whats really great is ive heard probably 50-100 ppl with similar storys about him being a genuine wholesome HERO lol .. I dont think ive ever heard a fan or anyone say he has treated them poorly in which makes him the best legend in my eyes##1
It’s because he comes from good parents. His dads shop is 5 minutes from my house and his dad is a good honest man.
That's awesome 💯

The best ever! In 98 my brother had cancer he gave him his jersey off his back signed it all kinds of stuff took him into his trailer!

I love how honest this interview is too. So down to earth, especially for being one of the most influential MX riders ever.
Jeremy Mc the proper G.O.A.T.
That’s what I’m saying!
You got that right !
Do it scared until you can do it skilled 🔥🔥

Mcgrath is the most effortlessly cool guy to ever throw a leg over a bike so naturally charismatic and smooth
Love these interviews with Jeremy. He is just an amazing person and the stories behind the scenes are great. He is still my all time favorite rider!

I got an ogio laptop bag its probably 12-15 years old , still looks new never ripped, zippers still work great. Its carries some weight too.
I do that as well. Drive around, looking at hills or mounds of dirt. I am actually start thinking about Riding when I see that stuff.
