    Fellow member of the "bike in the trunk" gang here. It's easy to put the bike in, you can stop at the pub for as long as you want, and it's easier to park. No need for a rack!

    Thanks for the bike check Dale looks awesome. I’ve been running the dissector is a rear tire on my writtmo for two seasons with a DHF on the front, I really like the dissector. I think that they dissector is a nice mix between an aggressor and a DHR2 it seems to do pretty well on the wet also.

    Nice bike check. I am riding a forbidden dreadnought in XL with a zeb, xt mix that weighs 34 pounds. That Norco ist heavy wow. Although dd tires, coil shock and heavier components.
    I really like that you mentioned the l nameless mt520 brakes. They really are good for the price. The only downside you cannot use the same pads with cooling fins as in slx, xt if you wanted. Same goes to the Shifter. Xt in the front and does not matter which derailleur you use, you get the most features of the shimano drive train. While I am personally more into a matching color scheme, I dig the idea of just putting left over parts on the bike if they perform the same. Like the funny brake rotor setup. All in all that was one of the very few bike check videos on YT where I fully agree on everything you have mentioned. 👍👍

    Nice bike check Dale. Thorough as usual. Funny story/question about the quick release/no bike rack thing… in my early days of watching your channel about a year and a half ago (which also marked the early days of me taking up this sport), I was finishing a ride one evening on Burke and cruising down the paved section of Harper where people park. I saw some guy in the distance ahead unloading a yellow Norco from his black Tesla, with the front wheel off and presumably a quick release. Back then I didn’t know what you looked like. But I remember slowing down slightly and wondering if that was “Dale” ‘cause Dale rode a yellow Norco. But then I thought “Nah, Dale is an amazing rider and all my newbie research to that point suggested that quick release was a long abandoned technology on mountain bikes as it didn’t provide optimal stiffness through the fork. No way a rider as good as Dale would ride with a quick release wheel!” 🤣 So my question is: what are your thoughts on the conventional wisdom of quick release rims being inferior?
    P.S. that random guy unloading the yellow bike gave me a pretty wide smile as I whizzed by, and to this day I feel bad about only giving him a trail nod in return.

    • @DaleStone
      @DaleStone  2 роки тому +4

      Hahaha, if I could have a quick release on every fork I would! Just as stiff, only harder to hit a precise clamping torque. Until then I shall keep my 6mm handy in the trunk...

    Has anyone ever built/designed a bike that utilizes two rear shocks? One expansion and one compression would mean you could tune each one too handle a more specific task instead of one shock trying to do everything well? Obviously I'm not a bike designer or an engineer but I can't help but think an expansion shock tuned for small bump sensitivity and a compression shock handling the big hits would make for a very smooth customizable suspension set up. Obviously there's gonna be added weight so this might be best suited for downhill bikes if it's even possible?
