Yes I think it was in August that year? when ITV decided to end News at One and change it that September to the News at 12.30pm from what I remember of course so too.
@@brucedanton3669 it was around end of July start August of that year. It did revert back to News At 1 in 1988 March. I prefer it as News At 1 and loved the theme. Holds memories whenever I came back for lunch from school or play group. Peter Sissons and Leonard Parkin were the best. I'll always remember Leonard Parkin would greet you with Hello and good afternoon. Always made a point of welcoming younger viewers
@rajnirvan3336 I remember that right from the start Leonard Parkin always made a point of welcoming younger viewers during school holidays (Peter Sissons also later adopted the same practice, as did Carol Barnes, who was the relief host in the early 80s whenever Peter and Leonard were both unavailable, but Leonard was the one who originated it)... Younger viewers were likely only watching because their parents gave them no choice - but I remember I always appreciated that the ITN newscasters took the time to welcome children to the news as well
