Consider this: you have 8 pair of hands of the same colour (Hasbro put some different hands of a slight difference of colour in every iron man), you have a proper John Romita jr. head from early 80's, roller skates from 80's too, a proton cannon, a translucent yellow spot on the chest and the possibility to change the armored head in four different ways and, last but not least, you don't have to buy other figures to ha e a classic iron man... I think it is a good price
I think both protocon cannons suffer from looking dead/powered off. A stand is just needed for either. It's just an impractical weapon to hold which is perfect for a video game.
The wheels are skates which he used to have in the comics. He still periodically uses the skates from time to time to my knowledge, at least whenever he happens to use the older, classic-style armor.
Haven't you claimed in the past that iron man was your favorite character? He's your favorite character but you don't recognize the jet powered roller skates he's been using occasionally since the late 60s?
I think of this figure as an articulated upgrade to the old Secret Wars Iron Man figure from back in the day, which I never owned but wanted badly--the proportions and color just seem to match it in my mind's eye. I also love the effect of seeing his eyes through the mask. As for the proton cannon, since this is an older figure I just think of this cannon as a prototype that eventually leads to the one he uses in the game. Crazy flex on Hasbro for releasing that after the Mafex starts reaching people!
Great video! Thanks for keeping the review real and honest. For this price point you shouldn't have ANY issues! Personally i think the Hasbro 20th anniversary edition did a great job for this figure
mafex's proton cannon is from Iron Man #294 from my search. still different armor tho, but at least it's accurate to that regards. i thought about getting this, but my first impression of Iron Man was the 90's cartoon and that's the modular suit i think. I'm hoping Mafex does one, so I can add to my MvC collection.
Mine also has the lose head issue. But that being said I love this figure. Yes the price is a lot more then a legend but you pay for the quality of the figure. Mafex uses better plastic and they also give you a lot of accessories as a pose to the ML. If you think about it legends range between $25 to $30 plus dollars now and if you want a custom head sculpt you pay sometimes $50 from a 3rd party. So I personally prefer the mafex. Not hating on ML they do good at times too.
The Mafex is washing the ML 😂 Just looking at them standing side by side it’s easily the BEST Classic Iron Man figure EVER! It’s sucks that yours had that lose neck issue. I would suggest maybe using some floor polish or something like that to tighten it up. My copy was solid thankfully. Thanks for your honest review.
They appeared in certain issues, not just a single random panel. They're referred to as Jet skates. Mostly used on the MK III thru MK V Yellow/Red models in the mid/late 70s and early 80s till he built the SCIM armor in 83' I believe.
I really like the eye-mask gimmick. But overall, rare instance where Hasbro has given us better or comparable options. $32 feels like gouging but even if it had the proton cannon for $20 more, half the price for everything minus a hand or head ain't bad. I prefer the legends proton cannon overall, even the color, but it would be nice if it didn't look so flat in some areas and had more sculpted panels and tech details. 0 more money but just would be better overall. But the size works for the MvC look so I'm happy
actually 45 for the mvc modular kit with 3 heads, 3 hands, 2 effects, and proton cannon is actually hella dece vs the 100 Mafex and I feel like I don't have to be precious posing it vs screwing up some mafex paint. If Hasbro ever gets to doing interchangeable necks like the Doctor Doom, it might be lights out
@John Doe Completely disagree. I have some ML on my Mafex shelf to fill out my X-Men team, and there's a huge visual difference imo. You can instantly tell which ones were cheaper. They feel way cheaper too. Maybe a matte spray would help, but if you're someone who can tell the difference, I don't think there's any substitute unfortunately.
Excellent review my friend. Sad to see you have a loose neck on yours. I am glad that I passed on this figure. Hopefully I can get him without the cannon for cheap if someone does not want the figure.
I don’t like how loose mafex are period. Ive sold them all. Spider-Man carnage two Batman’s. Wolverine cyclops and psylocke. Only one I kept is gambit cause legends gambits all suck
80th Anniversary Iron Man > Mafex Iron Man > All other classic Iron Man figures IMO. I understand wanting to respect the source material, but Iron Man always looks better with metallic colors because his armor is a metal alloy. The flat red and yellow color scheme makes him look cheap. And besides, if we REALLY want to get into a conversation about accuracy, then it's pretty clear that Kirby and Lee always intended Iron Man's armor to be gold instead of yellow and were simply limited by the printing tech of their time. Stan Lee was already calling Iron Man "The Golden Avenger" as easily as 1966. Note the use of the word "golden" as opposed to "yellow", 'nuff said!
That loose neck issue is unfortunate but at least it's not wobbly. Alternate face plate is based on Alex Ross art. Not a fan of it. Will stick with the way superior Bob Layton flat face version. Selling proton cannon on eBay, have zero use for it as Ironman don't need no stinking cannon! Plus it goes with the 90s modular armor IM from the Capcom game and Marvel comic story arc.
Y’all kill me crying over $100 figures having a few QC issues. I don’t care how much something cost it can have QC issues. Ppl bought $100k Mercedes off the lot with QC issues. The figure is dope, shitting on anything Hasbro could ever make 💯💯💯
Honestly mafex is overrated I have this one and the spiderman not worth the price slight upgrades over Hasbro but these figures are awkward no other way putting it sorry mafex you need to redo your figures
Yeah bro 100 bucks that's crazy that thing should be perfect no issues at all I'm out with mafex legends are getting better now just don't tell them that we'll get another price hike
The wheels are from "jet skates" that Stark wore in a super early issue of Iron Man.
I think the loose neck can probably be fixed by thickening the lower neck balljoint with some glue. Generally, loose balljoints are easy to fix.
The wheels are skates which he used to have in the comics. He still periodically uses the skates from time to time to my knowledge, at least whenever he happens to use the older, classic-style armor.

All in all, I’m just happy I finally can get an Iron Man with the Proton Cannon, that’s all I ever wanted tbh
I think of this figure as an articulated upgrade to the old Secret Wars Iron Man figure from back in the day, which I never owned but wanted badly--the proportions and color just seem to match it in my mind's eye. I also love the effect of seeing his eyes through the mask.

The proton cannon is accurate to how it appears in the comics, the MvC one is just super stylized
Great video! Thanks for keeping the review real and honest. For this price point you shouldn't have ANY issues! Personally i think the Hasbro 20th anniversary edition did a great job for this figure

Facts!🎯🔥
Iron Man used to have roller skates as a part of his armor. Not even kidding, E.
the wheels are from a single random silver age panel. Vintage comics were wild.
They appeared in certain issues, not just a single random panel. They're referred to as Jet skates. Mostly used on the MK III thru MK V Yellow/Red models in the mid/late 70s and early 80s till he built the SCIM armor in 83' I believe.

@@graefx might not when it comes to articulation and movement, legends will never compare to how imports feel and pose

gracias esperaba tu revision de la figura ,ahora espero que hagas la de thor mafex clasico, saludos
All the canon is saying is that modular ironman is next. Mafex likes to pack accessories for other figures with different figures.
Great figure ngl
I don’t like how loose mafex are period. Ive sold them all. Spider-Man carnage two Batman’s. Wolverine cyclops and psylocke. Only one I kept is gambit cause legends gambits all suck
Way better then marvel legend even with the loose head! Just use some glue! Tried of Marvel Legends and the lack of accessories and non plastic capes
Wow the handle has to come off? @,@
I prefer the Mafex cannon, the ML one is too large and the pink doesn't make sense to me.
Have you ever played Marvel Super Heroes, Marvel vs Street Fighter, or Marvel vs Capcom 1 or 2?

My iron man’s head pops off just like yours. The neck connection sucks
The eyes will come out with a little bit of heat, do u even collect action figures bro? And mafex are always loose they are far to over priced

change his feet for his ggo-go gadget skates! Why dont you heat up the face to remove the eyes.
Neck articulation is such a shame

I can’t count the number of ML I got with bad joints, especially those wack busted ab crunches.
I honestly don't like it. Love their movie Ironman though.
Seems MaFex dropped the ball.
I went with the Mr Hyde Ironman. The difference in price is too big, and the ML is almost as good. Plus I don’t care for the cannon.
Nothing’s perfect in life.
Hasbro can do it. They don't cuz theyre cheap
