Turn the connector to the middle of the lake. You've just made it more difficult than it needs to be. :)

Put a control station on the deck where you can see the arm with 3rd person and ALT-Mouse. Put all those arm and connector operations on the buttons of the control seat. If will be a lot easier and more efficient.
