Fair enough, Kim! There are definitely a number of ways to make a fire poker, but I like this way. It's a great way to test your forge welding because when you make the turkey leg, you'll know right away if the weld held or didn't.
Thanks for your comments! Yes, a split can also work but I find I need to use heavier stock to make an effective poker and hook using a split. The forge weld allows you to preserve more thickness and strength of the material. Cheers!
