@@SRS1918In north America, honey bees are highly invasive and devastating to our environment. They're native to Eurasia and were imported a long time ago. As a commercial bee keeper you're profiting off of something that is actively destroying your environment around you. They block out food access for native pollinators and spread diseases to them. It's time to start spreading awareness of the realities of beekeeping. It's an industry started and sustained for money. What's more American that profit, especially at the expense of the ecosystem
I wish they farmed bees that were actually native to their home lands, honey bees were imported from eurasia. Honey bees are incredibly devastating to our environment, they create competition and take food from our native pollinators as well as being shockingly good at spreading diseases for our native pollinators too.
If you take some icing sugar and corn syrup you can make a nice putty which we would always use on the bee farm I worked at. You just press it in and the bees will eat right through to the queen!
Most of the times, when I am watching UA-cam videos, I found myself double clicking to skip to the good part, waiting for the person to get to the point, but when I watch you guys videos, I can sit relax and watch the full thing. It’s so interesting & relaxing. watching You guys grow over the years is so satisfying and sweet. Such a blessing in a crazy far off world . God bless you ❤
@@whitehouseonthehill I know. That's why it's refreshing to see you not doing things blindly and experimenting with living creatures. You're finally leveling up. That's good news. 👍
Kiwis generally grow as separate male and female plants (vs parts of the flowers or separately gendered flowers), it's gonna need a mate plant. There is one self fertile variety.
I haven't seen a kiwi vine like that before. I have 4 fuzzy kiwi plants that I grew from seeds in containers. This is their 2nd spring, and I have them growing up a 6 foot trellis that is too small for them. I haven't gotten flowers or fruit yet. Hardy kiwis are a different species of edible kiwi that I'm not as familiar with, so I wouldn't be able to identify it if that's what you have. I think you may have ended up with a different volunteer plant though.
I agree with the comment above. That's why I have 4 vines, hoping I would get male and female plants, but I haven't gotten flowers yet to confirm. There's a kiwi plant near me with flowers with both male and female parts. The fruit was actually delicious when I left them to ripen for a month or so after I picked them. It had a pretty spiky skin though and wasn't a normal grocery store variety.
Too bad they saved a species of bees that's actually devastating to the environment. Honey bees are not native to north America period, they're from Eurasia, and are actually horrifically bad for our ecosystems out here because they're killing off our native pollinators
Hey man, just wanted to say thanks, Just started working with my local beekeeper and went searching for beekeeping videos to learn, these have helped me gain the courage to work with these beautiful creatures. Your life is AMAZING and inspiring! keep up the great work!
I hope you're not from north America ❤ honey bees are highly invasive (from Eurasia) and actually hurt our environment way more than they could ever help. They're devastating to our native pollinators because they block out access to food, habitat and are surprisingly good at spreading diseases to them as well. Commercial bee keeping keeps these fact hidden because honey is a major profit, you can profit on practically everything a honey bee makes; from the honey to their stingers and everything in between. What's more American than profiting at the expense of our environment ?
I have been telling people here in Northern Michigan about your GIANT chickens. They don't believe me. Maybe because I couldn't remember there name. I would really appreciate it if you could reply with the breed. I did tell them how rare they are and the problems with hatching them. I really enjoy watching you family and farm grow. Blessings on you all!
I was so overjoyed when u got ur first hive and now seeing u have so much success this year. I am so proud of you guys. I think I teared up watching this. Well done ❤
Great video! Glad you found a group of people to help you figure out the best ways to manage the hives. Amazing to see how your kids are picking up on how to run things too!
All your kids are awesome. Uriah is a special person. He is such a good boy. He has these great talents. Always so helpful. He always impresses me. They all do. You guys are so lucky! ❤
I've just started bee keeping, though my parents have been doing it all my life. I still have a lot to learn, I didn't know about queens and their mating flight. Congratulations on the new queens though.
Loving this bee keeping videos. And thank you for listening to us and providing content and an update on the bee situation ! Next year is going to be rich in honey for you guys !
Wow! I'm a bee keeper in Australia, My company supplies for some of the biggest honey companys. Seems our setups are similar but different. It's amazing seeing how similar our bee worlds are. Keep up the amazing bee work! I love your channel!
Whoa you taught me something about bees I didn't know thanks for the information very informative , hope your bee be very productive for you guy's.🌻😘🌻👍
At last! One of your most popular videos was you getting NAILED! By those aggressive bees that literally bombed you, your son, and your video equipment. Although I was already a mega fan of your family and your stories, it’s been a while since you’ve spoken about your bees! Good stuff man
Your bee videos are just as addicting to me as beekeeping is to you. I watch all of your videos but there’s something about the bees that are just so interesting and different! I think I have binge watched all of them 😂❤
Always impressed with the quality you put into these mini movies of your lives. Certainly also worth the extra trouble you all went to get a more calmer lot of Bees. :) Maybe not as hectic but sure safer lol
If I’m honest (too honest I’ve been told) I wasn’t looking forward to watching this video, however at the beginning you said you have mentors and have been working with others looking after bees. I really enjoyed it. Great work learning more about the bees and how to care for them properly. Surely the Lego box should be retired especially if the bees keep dying over winter it’s not suitable for your climate. Great video guys.
I'm so pleased that you haven't given up ,and that you Guys persever no matter what👊🤗. I actually started taking Bee Propalis for my health issues today! I love to see Uriah right up close. Kudos Kiddo🌞. Ya'll have learned so much 😊. Happy Mother's Day Becky💐❤. JO JO IN VT 💞

Luckily we have some friends that are going to help me out, but i have learned a lot from your videos as well. We love honey, and i think it would be great to raise our own. Bert can finally stop being broody 🤣 He's a champ for sitting on those eggs for that long, I wonder if he'll be sad if none hatch. It's so interesting how it's the males that sit.

You really need to insulate the Lego hive so it will survive winter. Too much cold gets through the plastic
They died before winter, sorry should have explained that. Parasite issue, not an insulation issue.

That’s not a kiwi plant. Kiwis are giant vines with large leaves and are sex-specific except for one type , as noted previously.
Some kiwi are self fertile but yes, that's not a kiwi vine they're growing, it's a weed.
