10:05 Kazachok is not Ukrainian dance!)))) It's part of Russian dance. Russian folk song is playing there. Сostumes are also Russian national. Hopak - is a Ukrainian folk dance. Watch the performance of the Virsky ensemble... and you will understand what a Ukrainian Hopak is!
@@hanako_0319 Yes, they are incredible 💙💛💐 This dance shows the essence of the Ukrainian people - 💪 Physical and moral strength, courage, stamina, love for the motherland, hot temper and act.
Unfortunately the ballroom and most of the Latin dances were presented the way they are danced in competition. the rules for these competitions were usually not developed by those of the same ethnicity as th original dancers.
Cultural vanishing... all of those "standard dances" are not how it is actually danced in their original countries. "Cha cha" got me rolling, should not put ballroom dances as a whole.
like Bachata, the bachata dance shown in the video looks more like brazilian zouk, but that’s not how bachata is actually danced although I admit I still like it.
Yah I was thinking the same. Like these dances and the steps were not fully real how real people of those cultures would dance it. Some of these steps and moves exaggerated
In Ukraine there are still more distinct dances! Hopak, for example. You could look up Virsky ensemble, they do a lot. Also, russian beryozka is something out of this world!
It's funny how the African dance from Ivory Coast called "coupé-décalé" (can be translated from french as "cut-shifted") is written here "kupe-dekale" 😂 Great dance btw, so exhilarating just to watch! And the whole video is great, thanks for that.
Looks like you've missed out the whole of Eurasia and the Caucasus! There are some amazing traditional dances from this area - Dagestan, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Georgia being some of the countries that have rich dance traditions dating back centuries, including dancing at great speed with swords (takes years of practice). Georgia has some stunning dancers and dance companies - Sukhishvili, Rustavi, Erisioni, Batumi and loads more... dances include rachuli, acharuli, simdi, tsdo, parikaoba, mtiuruli and khorumi, to name a few...maybe for inclusion in any future videos? That said, I really like the video and the diversity it shows. Thank you! 👍👍👍 😊😊
Ok, for the ones that are missing: Forró is a big dance in Brazil, on practice, maybe even bigger than samba. There’s also Frevo and Brazilian Funk. About India, Idk the names, but I know there are other beautiful traditional styles besides Bollywood. There’s a dance in Japan called Kagura. I also missed the Hawaiian Hula dance!
Hi, can I ask where are you come from? Because my name (Nanda) is incredibly rare here in Hungary middle Europe. (and a fan fact: ,,forró" means hot in Hungarian)

10:31 DAMN look at that kids haircut, looking hella slick BOI xDDD Either way loved the vid, really good for finding the dance one needs and learning a little bit more about each culture~ Great stuff man!
Since you asked to help extend this catalogue of dances: Irish Dance is a genre that can be split up into different dances as well, like Reel, Slip Jig, Treble Jig, Hornpipe etc. The music tells you which dance it is (Just like in ballroom you know whether it’s a chacha or a rumba) And then those can be solo or group dances, in softshoes or hardshoes (kinda like ballet slippers or tap shoes)
11:26 Capoeira!!
As an Indian I am biased maybe but Asia is so rich in culture it's like endless!!!!! I know India alone has so many dance forms and traditions and culture......
Ooh and English Border Morris and Cotswold Morris, Scottish, Fusion (Bellydance), FCBD ATS (Bellydance), Tahitian, Odissi from India, Native American styles, Robotic ………. and many more. Enjoyed watching the video - dancing brings such joy ❤️🤗
This video is awesome! :D As a Hungarian myself who lives in Romania I missed both hungarian and romanian traditional dances. Both are gorgeous, worth being on the list. And I'm sure there are even more beutiful dances missing. But collecting all these styles... I'm sure it took some time. Great job! Thank you for the experience!
What wonders me being Indian is they chose Bollywood style, which isn't even a recognised dance form, over classical dances like Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Odissi, etc.
I appreciate that this video shows a number of different dances from every continent, but the title is a bit presumptuous. If one would try to make an effort in showing as many of the probably uncountable number of traditional folkdances around the world that video would be significantly longer than just 13 minutes. Nevermind that these dances are rarely defined by modern borders and tend to vary from region to region. You'd probably have to interview every ethnical (sub)group in the entire world XD
No, oriental dance is more commonly referred to as bellydance, but bellydance can also be a broader term for everything under the umbrella of bellydance that is actually world wide. Bellydance can also be called Raqs Sharqi, Middle Eastern Dance and I have even heard people say Arabic dance, but is not just exclusive to those regions. Bellydance uses predominantly Egyptian or Arabic or even Turkish music more commonly, but even beyond that. Tribal Fusion, is another style of bellydance, that uses more contemporary movements such as locks and pops or hip hop and typically uses more western based or contemporary, electronic music. The dancer is this video is Irina Akulenko and she is actually doing Tribal Fusion and not oriental bellydance. It goes so much more deeper than that, but I can’t write a thesis about it, in the comment section.
Latin dances like Tango have also it's original version (not the ballroom one) and I personally think you should include a version danced by latin schools. Plus mexican (each state has its traditional dances like oaxaca, veracruz, chihuahua, sinaloa, etc), colombian like cumbia colombiana, and I guess at least us Latinamericans have at least a regional plus various national dances. Oh and twerk, jamaican urban
@@aniapodlesny7080 I always thought of Ballroom Tango as something that was created out of admiration of Argentine Tango but made safer for western audiences. The Tango from Argentina I see as being very improvisational and to go with the many different moods of its music. It almost seems to change arbitrarily and has many shifts in mood. Also, the closeness of the dancers, with their chests together, along with their sensuous movements might have been too risque for ballroom dancing. Argentine tango is one of my faveorite dances. It is the dance of seduction. This was what I was taught but I am sure there is probably more to the story.
yes, I thought so too. If they include milonga they should also include tango and vals. Or just call the milonga tango, because I know that many dances were missed, but that would help viewers to find the dance.
Appreciate your video! I have learned a lot about different types of dances. Side note, there’re a lot of different types of dances in China that the video couldn’t include but I think whichever dance style it is, dancers are all pretty amazing for being able to express themselves through movements and facial expressions
In India we have many traditional dance styles than just 'Bollywood' and 'Bhangra'. We have Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathak, Bihu, Odissi, Mohiniattam, Kathakali, Garba, Dandiya, Manipuri and many more.
Great Job! I looked forward to finding a video with all the dance styles and the names of the dances. I get it :) Very interesting and cultural. Thanks a lot.
Forgot the Brazilian Samba. You have the ballroom version in there but they are very distinctive. Also, you could add modern dance, like Martha Graham.
Exactly, all the great modern dances like Martha Graham, Isadora Duncan, Doris Hunfrey, Rudolf Laban, Jose Limon, Paul Taylor, Merce Cunnignham, Trisha Brown, Klaus Vianna...
In Poland we have so many beautiful and difficult tradicional dances like mazurek or oberek. Also the ballroom one like polonez. I wish some to be there. I was missing hula dance from Hawaii also, so epic and full of storytelling!
I liked this video :p , but I didn't see 1. Square dancing 2. Hula dancing 3. Jiving/jigging (I don't know it's name, but it's a jazzy electric dance with loose moves and high energy) 4. Hamboning
I'm sure there are a TON of dance styles on here that aren't mentioned (latin I can say for certain) but for what it's worth, as someone whos been taking classes in tap, jazz, ballet and hip hop for about four and a half years now, compared to half the stuff one might see on tiktok, this kind of video fills me with so much joy!
Your video was very comprehensive but my only problem was that Asia is a continent that has so many cultures and cultural dances, majority of which weren't included. I would suggest you to make another video just about dances of Asia and I'm sure it won't disappoint you☺
Please add Schuhplattler from Bavaria (Bayern), it's really fun to watch, and also Karneval Prinzengarde Tanz. Both are from different regions in Germany. Also the dance you have labeled as polka doesn't look like polka to me. It looks like a alpine figure dance of some kind. I am in a schuhplattler dance group in the US and we do a traditional folk-style polka / waltz. Ballroom waltz and polka are a bit different. We do the original type that is hundreds of years old, invented in small villages in Austria / Bavaria Tirol.
This was really enjoyable to watch. Maybe you could a video for each continent of dance styles from that continent. Seeing some of the folk/region specific dancing I’d hoped for at least one from one of the Native American First Peoples groups like a hoop dance.
To put in ALL the dances would be impossible. There are so many regional and local dances. SO I think the author has a great job including most of the important dances and a great job of that. Here is a thought though; there should be a distinction between ballroom and original versions, for example: Brazilian Samba, Ballroom Samba etc.
You forgot a lot of varieties of bellydance: Saidi, Tribal fusion (included in the video with no description), Khaleeji dance, drum solo bellydance, tahitian dance (and other polynesian dances). For Greece also: Cretan dance (ex. Pentozali), Zeimpekiko, Hasaposerviko. Where are the russians and ukrainans? Hopak, Virski etc.Great video!
Some missing dances on top of my head: Scottish Highland Dance, Georgian Dance, Armenian Dance, Japanese Butoh, German Schuhplattler, German Gardetanz. Dances from all pacific islands. I’m pretty sure every country in the world has some kind of dances, or used to have in the past, so of course there are more missing for every continent. It would be really cool to have a big video encyclopedia of aaall dances in the world. Putting this video together is a great start!
I would love to to have seen the first people's nations in the Americas added in as well. Them and their traditional dances cause they have different styles among the different tribes.
There are also some beautiful german traditional dances like "Gardetanz", it wouldve been amazing if it was included here. It is really popular in Germany.
Awesome video!! However, I have to point out the obvious errors in it: “lantern dance” and “drag dance” are not even considered as types of dance in China. They are performances typically take place in festivals and celebrations. In terms of Chinese dance styles, there is Chinese classic dance, and rich varieties of ethnic minorities folk dances, such as Xinjiang dance, Mongolia dance, etc.
Thank you for your compliments. You're right but it's impossible to list all the styles of dance in a short video and I wanted to set a video in order to make people dream and I love lanterns 😃

Waaaaay too many to highlight, but your effort is appreciated! I'd love to add in some of my favorite folkloric and social dances: African American - Ring Shout & Chicago Stepping AfroCuban - Traditional Rumba (Yambú, Guaguancó & Columbia) & Orisha (Yoruba) dances Puerto Rican - Bomba y Plena Garifuna - Punta Haitian - Yanvalou & Kompa Angolan - Kizomba & Semba Ghanaian - Kpanlogo There are so many others, but these are some of my absolute favorites!
YEP! You're absolutely right. 💯
Hopak IS the dance that best represents Ukraine.
@@oiseau_libre thanks)
I just stumbled over your comment. I've seen Virsky perform live on their solidarity tour this year. Huge respect to them. They're so amazing! 😯
@@hanako_0319 Yes, they are incredible 💙💛💐 This dance shows the essence of the Ukrainian people - 💪 Physical and moral strength, courage, stamina, love for the motherland, hot temper and act.
Totally agree. Came to comments section just to write that. Also, povzunets is a cool Ukrainian one
Thank you.
Yah I was thinking the same. Like these dances and the steps were not fully real how real people of those cultures would dance it. Some of these steps and moves exaggerated
Благодарю ❤ за эмоции и информацию!!
Очень интересно!! 🙏🙏🙏
La danza es genial hay diferentes tipos de ritmos y coloridos en las vestimentas

That was pretty impressive, like two separate bodies lol
Lmao thank you for made my day
LOLLLLLLL😆
lol I saw a video of that dance were the guy straight up looked like he was hovering when he woved
Hahaha omg this had me rolling, idek why hahaha
In Ukraine there are still more distinct dances! Hopak, for example. You could look up Virsky ensemble, they do a lot.
Also, russian beryozka is something out of this world!
From Brazil, I miss:
-Forró
-Frevo
-Pagode
-Brazilian funk
-Samba de Gafieira
-Samba Partido Alto
-Sertanejo
-Maracatu
-Carimbó
-Bumba meu Boi (kinda a theater style)
-Axé
...
I don't know the "samba" they put there
EXACTLY! i’m brazilian and i’ve missed these ones too

It's funny how the African dance from Ivory Coast called "coupé-décalé" (can be translated from french as "cut-shifted") is written here "kupe-dekale" 😂
Great dance btw, so exhilarating just to watch!
Thank you! 👍👍👍 😊😊
Ok, for the ones that are missing:
Forró is a big dance in Brazil, on practice, maybe even bigger than samba.
There’s also Frevo and Brazilian Funk.
About India, Idk the names, but I know there are other beautiful traditional styles besides Bollywood.
There’s a dance in Japan called Kagura.
I also missed the Hawaiian Hula dance!
From the few competition clips I've seen, traditional hula looks VERY difficult but so beautiful
Yes Hula was missing
Hi, can I ask where are you come from? Because my name (Nanda) is incredibly rare here in Hungary middle Europe.
(and a fan fact: ,,forró" means hot in Hungarian)

Amazing variety around the world and there are so many more. Next time please include First Nations. Awesome capture though.
10:31 DAMN look at that kids haircut, looking hella slick BOI xDDD
Either way loved the vid, really good for finding the dance one needs and learning a little bit more about each culture~ Great stuff man!
Since you asked to help extend this catalogue of dances:
Irish Dance is a genre that can be split up into different dances as well, like Reel, Slip Jig, Treble Jig, Hornpipe etc. The music tells you which dance it is (Just like in ballroom you know whether it’s a chacha or a rumba)
And then those can be solo or group dances, in softshoes or hardshoes (kinda like ballet slippers or tap shoes)
Native American, clogging/flatfooting (Appalachians), and Pacific Islands (Tahitian, Samoan). Wow, you covered a lot...awesome video!
I appreciate the effort that went into making this video. And at the same time, Latin American dances are different from their ballroom forms.
Swede here, and I'm missing schottis. It's a still popular type of folk dance, and it's not just us Swedes dancing it
Oriental dance is actually "Bellydance" or more specifically "tribal dance".
thank you for correcting them I got so triggered
YES THANK YOU 😂 I was gonna come in the comments and say the same thing
It's a Tribal Fusion style belly dance 💃
The example here is Tribal Fusion, but can we not use the term Oriental to describe belly dance? In Turkey, belly dance is widely known as Oryantal?
I want to memorize this
Latin dances like Tango have also it's original version (not the ballroom one) and I personally think you should include a version danced by latin schools. Plus mexican (each state has its traditional dances like oaxaca, veracruz, chihuahua, sinaloa, etc), colombian like cumbia colombiana, and I guess at least us Latinamericans have at least a regional plus various national dances. Oh and twerk, jamaican urban
In this Video the original Tango is called Milonga 2:40
@@MRJoos66 milonga is a different dance style which shares some figures and elements with argentinian tango. :)
@@abracadabrat none of the ballroom versions are entirely correct
yes, I thought so too. If they include milonga they should also include tango and vals. Or just call the milonga tango, because I know that many dances were missed, but that would help viewers to find the dance.
Marinera Norteña from Perú is a beautiful dance!! You missed it!
Appreciate your video! I have learned a lot about different types of dances. Side note, there’re a lot of different types of dances in China that the video couldn’t include but I think whichever dance style it is, dancers are all pretty amazing for being able to express themselves through movements and facial expressions
I miss Forró, the most famous style in Brazil. And Capoeira ia not exactly a dance, but a martial art.
I was hoping they'd put forró! Sad they didn't put it...
I mean it’s a martial art masquerading as a dance, so I guess it gets a pass?
I think it's in, because it was for some years not allowed to practice capoeira as a martial art style. So they practiced it as a dance. Isnt it?
I like it
Capoeira is not a dance!!!!!
In India we have many traditional dance styles than just 'Bollywood' and 'Bhangra'. We have Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathak, Bihu, Odissi, Mohiniattam, Kathakali, Garba, Dandiya, Manipuri and many more.
Yes.. I too expected more in that direction. Bharanatyam especially.
Great Job!
I looked forward to finding a video with all the dance styles and the names of the dances. I get it :)
Very interesting and cultural. Thanks a lot.
I love walz and polkka. Greetings from Finland.
What about:
Twist?
Can can?
Acrobatic rock and roll?
Tarantella?
Kizomba?
Mazurka?
😜
I think you should make part two of this video
Out of about 60 dances I’m only attempted about 16 and I’m only actually good at 1 or 2 😆 makes me re-realize how incredible and huge the world is 🥰✨
Forgot the Brazilian Samba.
And Samba de gafieira
Do either of you guys know by any chance the song or the original video of the samba?
In Poland we have so many beautiful and difficult tradicional dances like mazurek or oberek. Also the ballroom one like polonez. I wish some to be there. I was missing hula dance from Hawaii also, so epic and full of storytelling!
I liked this video :p , but I didn't see
1. Square dancing
2. Hula dancing
3. Jiving/jigging (I don't know it's name, but it's a jazzy electric dance with loose moves and high energy)
4. Hamboning
Thanks for uploading such a fantastic work of colecting all types of dance in the world.
Merci! ça fait plaisir de découvrir toutes les danses du monde.
Le nombre de danses dans le monde ne permet pas de toutes les mettre, mais le but était de proposer un petit voyage autour de notre belle planète.

5:27 omg I've literally watched that waacking battle many times. Ibuki was on fire 🙌🏻
I'm so upset that Bulgaria 🇧🇬 wasn't in the list.. We have such a rich culture and so many dances!!! ♥
Yes you're right.
But unfortunetly, it's impossible to difficile to put everything in a short video 🙁
Italy wasn't there as well. Less France dances and more from other countries. Good video tho.
@@smarteps7631 then you shouldn't have title that claims it has them all.
@@smarteps7631 Then don't title your video as "all dance styles in the world"

I'm sure there are a TON of dance styles on here that aren't mentioned (latin I can say for certain) but for what it's worth, as someone whos been taking classes in tap, jazz, ballet and hip hop for about four and a half years now, compared to half the stuff one might see on tiktok, this kind of video fills me with so much joy!
Tap dance, clogging, lyrical, modern, contemporary… those are a handful that come to mind, but I know there are so much more.
8:28 how is she managing with her dress
Practice
Yes a lot of practice.
I can see her frustration as she only wears tailor made clothes.
Necesitamos una segunda parte, con cumbia por favor 💚💕💕
yo también estaba esperando a las cumbias
I waited russian dances. I like the Cossack Lezginka and Russian folk dance. but in general the selection is cool.
They forgot a lot of dance styles from many different countries.
Just goes to show how many dances there are in the world. I think this is less than 10% of the world dances
like folk dances
To put in ALL the dances would be impossible. There are so many regional and local dances. SO I think the author has a great job including most of the important dances and a great job of that. Here is a thought though; there should be a distinction between ballroom and original versions, for example: Brazilian Samba, Ballroom Samba etc.
8:57 me and my bestie when going out be like:
OOMYYG THANK YOU FOR 50 LIKES😭😭😭😭😭😭
This can't have been easy. Great vid, thankyou
You didn't told many dance styles....But, still I love your effort....
3:40 - Probably the only dance that I could figure out.
Yes!!!!!!!!!
Some missing dances on top of my head:
Scottish Highland Dance, Georgian Dance, Armenian Dance, Japanese Butoh, German Schuhplattler, German Gardetanz.
Un chef d’Œuvre.
Tecktonik has since evolved into Electro. Also fun fact: the person you chose for locking is currently my teacher
You are lucky af
Jumpstyle is missing here..
France: I'd rather think it doesn't exist.
Shuffle and Tecktonik also had a child and called it elctroswing.
I've always wanted to see Shen Yun performed
India is so underrepresented in this. Given the diversity here, there are sure 100+types of danceforms in India, folk, classical all included.
