I was at the 2021 500! It was the greatest day of my life! Went to the flea market near by and I spend more than I should’ve tbh, right after that we went straight to the track for driver intros, when the green flag dropped I was going nuts! When the wreck happened I went crazy! Then the rain came, me and my grandma and dad waited for 2-3 hours, then we finally called it quits and came home around 5-6 o’clock. We grabbed a bite to eat and I kinda moped around since I was sad the race wouldn’t finish that day. Then I got a text from Daytona, “drivers will be heading into their cars at 9:30” and at the time it was 9 o’clock. Me and my family jumped into the car, and we listened to the MRN coverage in the radio the whole ah there. When we arrived there was still about 75% of stage 1 left, so we didn’t miss much. I was exited and was always on the edge of my seat, waited for someone to pull down to the inside. And then, with the white flag waving, I see someone go to the inside, I’m standing and screaming so loud! “GOO CHASE….. GOOOOOOO!” And then as I was looking through my binoculars to look down the backstretch, I see keselowski and McDowell go to the inside, then Logano throwing the worst block in nascar history, I remember seeing smoke, then fire. I was going crazy!! I saw Chase Elliot cross the line , hoping the caution came out when he was just ahead. Then when MRN made the call that McDowell got it, I don’t think I’ve ever cheered so loud. As soon as they were available, I preordered the Cindric and McDowell race wins. (since I also went to both the xfinity and cup races) I also remember coming home at like 2am not being able to go to sleep.
My least favorite Daytona 500's happened on my 4th and 10th birthday My favorite driver, Jimmie Johnson, didn't win either one of them My Aunt Melissa's favorite Driver, Jeff Gordon won when I was obviously 4, and Trevor Bayne won on my 10th birthday
I always loved, but was confused when at the plate tracks, Gordon's spoiler was painted red. On regular speedways it was black. I love the all red look In the rear. I wonder why it wasn't permanent
