What do you think about the Marius Bakken "Norwegian model" adapted for cross-country skiing? Basically it's doing intervals at lactate 2-3 mmol/l (instead of around 4 mmol/l which seems to be the norm), but doing two interval sessions per day two days a week, and in addition on one day per week a harder and shorter anaerobic interval session at race pace. The thinking is that by doing slightly easier interval sessions you can do two of them per day and thus get a much longer time at high intensity with a lower risk of injury and faster recovery time vs. doing the same load on one session. Could this be useful for xc skiing?
There is no way to replace the skierg through strength exercises. The skierg is an endurance machine. Strength and endurance are two different things. However, I talked about strength exercises in the recent Q & A video
