Yes, they snap your neck in under a minute from behind if they feel that threatened. No doubt it was terrifying, not "exciting" imho, but it was truly not pouncing. There are things every hiker should have to make noise, etc. in case something like this happens (NOT guns). Trail management should close down trails during cub season for the safety of animals and people.

But before that, he was trying to find an opportunity to pick up a rock without the cougar pouncing on him while losing eye contact.
