As always Finn, great job. You are probably going to do it anyway, but I will mention it. Two hose clamps per joint on a boat that has water running through the pipe. Well that's what my apprenticeship called for.
A little late to this party but, excellent work Finn. As one who watched you with Leo on Tally Ho, and since here, I have to comment on your attention to detail. Moving the throttle cable on the engine was inspired. If I may give my tuppence-worth. I would double nut lock the nut at the end of the throttle cable on the engine, to stop possible vibration making it loose.
What I really like about Finn, is the way he approaches everything, neatly, methodically, and precisely, not least, how he comes across as a focused all-round nice young guy, who endeared us all, - right from the first "meeting" when working on Tally-Ho, and now to follow him via his great videos on his own boat back home in the UK is fantastic. Well done, Finn, from New Zealand.
Excellent work as always Finn, love the fix on the Morse cable attachment to the throttle body. The whole project is looking great and it will be nice to have a shop buddy around while your working.
You might want to add an additional locking nut next to the one on the end of the throttle cable to prevent the nut from vibrating off at an inopportune time.
Well Finn-Your long awaited Video was so great to view. Nice new pooch also! Great work on the parts in this video, well thought out projects that were completed WELL! Keep it up and we await your next progress report! Rich
Top vid Finn, nice to see you getting another step closer, and wonderful to see you sharing your life with a pup too You're a good man youngster, much respect from Scotland
Yes it's great to see the great metal inside the concrete, gives you more confidence in her strength and long life. It's a beautiful sailing boat, I love those working boats. Kev in New Zealand
Finn! You are the icing on my layer cake of stacked up boat videos. Thanks for bringing us up to date. Love watching your progress on this fascinating project.
Just a quick comment, I'd advise using a router to round off the edges of any holes through bulkheads as otherwise over time vibration will cause the edges to chafe away whatever is running through the hole. Your flexible hose for example. And yes, I know this from experience !
I love your boat. She looks so comfortable as a home on the water. A boat to trust and cherish that you put yourself into, finishing her. Cool dog, too. Good job. Highest Blessings
The old trick to quickly cut through the reo was to use a stick welder on high amperage. It would just cut straight through with minimal heat to the hull. Just don't set the shed on fire😁😁 Lovely work! Greetings from down under👍.
Dear Finn 👍👌👏 Oh WOW, simply fantastic! Sooo incredibly much progress Congratulations! 2) I like your dog very much and the new pup looks great. I absolutely love animals, especially dogs. 💚 Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards, luck and health in particular.
Great video as usual. Having a teak grate in your cockpit is the best way I know to accumulate all sorts of filth and crap, bits of food, anything you drop ends up moldering there and ultimately getting caught in the drains. When you drop anything small it’s impossible to recover without lifting up the whole grate which invariably then scratches the varnished sides of the cockpit. Much better I think to have just a non skid cockpit sole. But then what do I know?
Great work, love it! Just today I had a discussion which made me re-watch some of your shed-building videos. Feels like at the moment you visibly (!) begin to live up to the promise from those time. Very nice to see!
First Law of Sod! If you drill into reinforced concrete, you have to strike steel! I love the background music when you were fitting the cockpit floor. Who is it?
Coming on nice. Have you seen Sailing Magic Carpet, their refit? He had some good ideas to prevent water penetration through the screws and fittings getting into the deck by drilling and filling with epoxy holes, then screwing into these with smaller diameter screws than the epoxy plugs. Also glassing over the end grain joins between. Did the same for any deck gear, windows fixed into any wood. May be an idea to make some sort of flange to protect the exhaust through hole, water always condenses out and runs down the pipe, gets into the wood. Double clip all pipes, hoses, learnt that one the hard way, lots of swearing and wet feet!
Great work man, wet exhausts are the best provided you are eternally vigilant for the heat exchanger water, luckily the plastic water box's are so easily obtained :) I have melted a couple on my old boat before totally refurbishing the heat exchanger. Same with exhaust elbow something everyone forgets but can cause all sorts of sneaky problems.
Big fan. I remember when you were on the TallyHo ❤
As always Finn, great job.
