You can hold onto their food and hand feed them, throw treats in the bowl so they associate your hands with giving and NOT taking and play food games. My parents had your thinking and it got so bad they hired a behaviorist who told them exactly what I'm telling you (but way more intelligently, lol). Their dog had other issues on top of that, so they definitely needed one anyways, but all their dogs issues stem from improper handling lol You definitely shouldn't allow them to get away with it, but there is definitely a correct and SAFE way to do it.

Every single puppy I’ve ever owned had food aggression (every breed), and I’ve had a lot of puppies. The first thing I do is pin them down and growl at them. This is what would happen to them in a pack dynamic. It doesn’t hurt them, it simply lets them know who is dominant. You have to be the head of the pack. I’m telling you, this method works. It might take a few times over the course of a week or so, but it’s never failed.

My second dog Lily. She's a troublemaker out of all three cuz she's well. The middle one she runs off and she growls at me over toys and food most of the time. My dog is 9months old and he does similar to this he doesn't bites the one giving the food but while preparing it's food if the other person comes he growl shows teeth and threatens us to back down I used to be afraid and I back down because I know how hard it can bite if it gets a hold almost take a chunk but he fears me and obeys everything So today I wore a boxing gloves(won't affect you hands and you can give uppercuts) and he did th same thing I just stood still and yelled at him the dangerous dog ran to other room in fear

Well look videos on UA-cam on how to fix food possessiveness in dogs and also talk about the issue with your vet. Taking a slow feeder bowl also helps if your dog anxiously swallows the food fast but remember this bowl won't fix the issue by itself

My 5 month pitbull is not food aggressive at all. Which is weird since he is really food motivated. I guess its just their personality.
