If the players aren't doing basic things, then that is the fault of the coaching staff not educating and coaching well enough. Period.

I think that's a lot of it. How many times did a player run ten - fifteen yards up the seem or a quick hook route without anyone ever coming near them?

It's 4 PM Lambeau time and Joe Barry has not been fired yet. If we go into the 2024 season with Joe Barry still employed by the Packers I won't watch a single game next season.
Sadly they’re gonna keep him until the end of the season. He probably will get fired during the offseason though.

I don’t care if the defense suddenly looks like the second coming of the legion of boom the last 3 weeks, Barry cannot be allowed to return next season. Anyone saying they’re a young team, this is Barry’s 3rd year as our DC.

Joe Barry doesn't cut it now as he has not cut it in his past employs. He is the one passing the plays to the D. Plays like a soft zone on 3rd & 4? If I was playing his D, I would be wondering why I should possibly sacrafice my body for someone who has never had a defence above 22nd and insists on soft zone on 3rd & 4? Keeping him on and expecting better is like hoping for #69 back as a Packer. JB is worse than Amari Rodgers and sooner or later you have to realize the fact that 'it's just not gonna work and it's time to move on.

Obviously the defensive coordinator/coach is not coaching the players on how to effectively communicate. The job of the defensive coordinater/coach is literally to coordinate the defense by making sure everybody is on the same page. Simple as that.

What standard is he referring to? The continuously declining defense year after year, even though we have 1st round talent across the defense? Or the standard from our 2010 defense that took us to the super bowl? One we’ve hardly come close to replicating since then.
Or the fact that our offense can’t keep up with our defense giving up some amount of points in 9/10 drives?

Coach needs to a better Manager. There's a difference between a manager and a glorified Supervisor. In a pinch a supervisor will roll up their sleeve and help, but a manager will hire quality personnel to be responsible and accountable for their jobs. Responsibility and Accountability seems to be missing in this. In the beginning it was nice to hear a coach who would take responsibility for not putting the team in a better situation, but now, to keep the team defensively under Barry's control is disheartening to say the least. This (has been going on during Barry's tenure) is a dead issue (nothing new) that will not result in successful or faithful runs, PERIOD! To hold on because you've seen sparks of it in the early parts of the season but fail miserably when it really counts is crazy! Come on, Coach, Man UP! GPG
LaFluer is a great guy, and I’m sure an amazing father. But, this kindness and generosity, could literally be his demise and result in him getting fired.

This is what happens when you hire your friends and not the best available candidate.
These are the results you get year after year when your continually always the youngest defense and rarely have any veterans on defense and play kids. What do you expect??? Why doesn't any reporter ask why they're playing 8 yards off the ball in zone on like 90% of defensive plays? Every QB is expecting to have their best game when they see that cushion for pitch & catch all game.
They basically play prevent defense all game. It's ridiculous.

The loyalty Mlf shows to bad coaches will ultimately be his demise as a head coach and will get himself fired in the long run. Joe Barry is a bad DC and should have been gone after last season.
Although I don’t disagree with you, if you look at the Packers traditionally, they are a very conservative organization that doesn’t make a lot of drastic moves in the midst or latter part of the season, with the exception of Mike McCarthy. That said, Joe Barry will not be returning for the 24’ season, given they’re going to let him finish the last three games, because what would be the point of releasing him now? They would just appoint an interim defensive coordinator, which may not produce any better results at this point. Undoubtedly, there’s going to be some major shifts across the entire team spectrum in the off season, which includes all of the assistant coaches.
We’re a long way from being title town. A very long way
