You could always hear the Salop 47 ticking over at Wolves bay back then.

Some excellent thrash there. Doubledheaded 37s on limestone with another banking!

Nice to see long gentle curves & point work in the slow running shots. Drab it may have been but “corporate blue” was very attractive in its own way. A good era reminiscent of the BR Green & Maroon days! The “exec” livery brought a lighter and classier look to express stock.

Nice footage, but I get the feeling that you had more footage after the locos had moved past showing the coaches or wagons.
If you do, I hope you'll share that footage and make more videos showing the rest.
As much as people love the sight and sound of locos... every bit of this video has moved into history.
As a railway modeller, videos showing formations of trains are perfect source material for replicating them! :^)

Really good stuff - no awful 125s. BR was cool even at that late date.

What are the tunnels at 28:16 and 28:22? They look amazing from the station at least...

During the de-nationalised rail industry . The collapse of the locomotive and rolling stock manufacturing in Britain and the prequel to DB , SNCF & NL Sporwegen taking the rake off of British tax payer subsidies , BR rolling stock sell off and re-leasing. The fragmentation of the Intercity brand and the implosion of the relatively integrated Network South East .
The young naive idiots at the treasury even overruled Major
Fragmentation of services and rolling stock rail crashes under Railtrack and asset stripping of BR estate assets for private gain . The main beneficiaries ? Siemens & DRB (DB) , the commercial / state survivors of pre war Germany.
Come back Bob Reid and Peter Parker all is forgiven and appreciated. Re-nationalise to the TOCS now to join Network Rail , LNER & ScotRail . Commercial collapse to a social enterprise like the rest of Europe, FS ,RENFE SNCB, DB & Swedish State Railways
