I have a plant with 3 YT’s. Just replaced 1 potentiometer, 2 weeks later the next chiller is showing the same alarm. I like these videos gives a better understanding of Yorks. Don’t get to really work on them much.

Mmm old YT’s. Dinosaurs at this point. This plant should look into York’s YZ chiller if they want a low pressure and low GWP refrigerant option.

Another great video. Thank you so much for the amount of depth you go in. I am just starting my journey into chillers and need all the information you can provide.

great explaination, personally i work with people that are filled with memorized info. So they could never explain why and that really prohibited my learning. Wish i found this channel sooner.
    Keep up the amazing work

Very well thought out explanation of operations. I understand what you explained and it makes sense. That poor chiller was fighting a high load and was giving it all it had.....thought it was cool that you basically put a "governor" on it....so it wouldn't "red line" the chiller.

doing a vane re-calibration has 0% to do with vane closed switch or control of vanes. Vane motor does not stop when closing because the feed back position indicates 0. it is internal limits in motor or physical stalling before internal closed switch is made. Important if sharing info that it is accurate. i don't want to be that negative guy but it is important to be correct.

Hello Master HVAC! The York chiller, between cool chiller and air chiller. I know cool chiller have water in supply or return line because water come from cooling tower but air chiller why have water in supply or return line. Where the water come from?

Great info thank you ! So is there a way for the unit to monitor itself and prevent going into overload ? otherwise everytime they go into a hot pull-down they have to call a service tech ...

Actuator more then likely on its way out. I’d clear out the surge map shows over 13k surges Maps probably full and machine will run better. 80% for 10 minutes is more then enough for your pull down. Just my two cents.
Next time you are working on a York pull the VM cover. Vane Motor Switch Operation (VMS)
The auxiliary contacts are internal Normally - Open (NO) contacts on terminal 1 to 6 on the actuator terminal block. Notice that terminal 1 has a jumper wire 1A to L1. L1 is supplying 120 vac to terminal 1. When the vane motor actuator shaft is within 11° of being fully closed (CCW), the auxiliary contacts 1 to 6 close, supplying a 120 vac signal to terminal 6, which would then be routed to the respective control panel to indicate that the vane motor/pre- rotation vanes are in the closed position.

Takes a brave man to clear a surge map out without knowing what else is going with site conditions.
