    I think a good way of understanding how to attack as Zerg is thinking that you have way more units than protoss and terran, and if u attack in only one direction only a part of your army will attack, while the rest is waiting for their turn. Instead, by making surrounds, all your units will attack at once getting all the value your army is capable of.

      Yes! The fighters of the swarm should all strike at once, as one! With ONE FELL SWOOP we should slay them!

      @@NeuroZerg as a protoss player, I do the same thing against Terran. It's no good if all the chargelots get clumped up in the front. It's good to get a flank going for the tanks. Then the army crumbles.

    Probably one of the best lessons I learned in SC2. As Protoss, I remember in WoL just wanting to do blink stalker micro so bad, and id lose everygame because 1 well microed units does nothing for the bank I had of min/gas. Such a great basic lesson, better to be tactically sound, than to do crazy micro that we can't pull off anywho.

    No wonder my Zerg attacks has always felt the weakest!!
    I play Random and I always attack in the same manner.
    As a result, I always felt like my Zerg has no chance unless I go into Brood Lords or Lurkers and then just keep leaning on them with a big Zerg mosh pit until they suffocate.
    I never thought that a formation could work this effectively with the units being perfect battle machines.

    Damn this is so important to know.. As a protoss it's totally different (well not with zealot/archon) as a toss im really used to have 3 separate control groups in a single fight because (well they call us the a move race but it's not really true) because u want things like immortal/stalkers together because they have same movement speed and u want to be able to pull them back, zealots and archons a moving but without blocking the rest of your army and spellcasters on 3.. I will even put prism harass on 4 and in case of having 2 spellcasters on a 4th button (something like an oracle).. Playing zerg for 3 days now and I really need that kind of advice

    Thank you for the great explanation Neuro! I have a question: Do you "A-Move" at the "star mark" or do you "Move command", wait for the surround, and then "A-Move" once you are surrounding the enemy units?

    • @NeuroZerg
      @NeuroZerg  4 роки тому +12

    I think micro is still important. 1. Spellcasters are very good units. 2. You used an example where the enemy has a full ranged army. If you go vs zealots you will have to micro banelings. If u a move with lingbanehydra then the banes will get blocked or detonate whenever they get a connection.

    I try to do this and it's great when it works, but I find getting the 3 groups into position to be a lot easier said than done considering the maps aren't just a wide open field. At least one group usually needs to run a super long way around to get into position, so unless it was already behind the terran army it feels like it's too late to do anything once they get set up in front.

    • @okbacktoworknow

      Use overlords and spread creep for map vision then flank with speed lings roaches and hyrdas also come with speed upgrades off creep for this reason as well

    If you can handle the complicated multi groups, do it. I personally had 3 main armies and a spec ops, which would change. Then I had cc's and production and scouts and blah blah blah.
    You should see my world of Warcraft hotkeys. A key for every ability. For every character. And I knew all of them.
    Anyway, an example for sc2, forward queens or drop ships. Send it all but now you can pull just those back if they get targeted, which they will, in a competitive match anyway. You can box or click, but that is slow, by the time you click what you want by using box or click, they would already be on the way if you had a hotkey.
    Its also good practice for casters. Before templars got an attack, they would run into melee. If you had shit micro, gg.
    The more complicated, the more exp you get for it. You will improve where it matters way faster. Its like training with weighted cloths.
    Are you a casual or competitor? Based on what you are, you decide what you wanna do. No bad choices here btw.
    I always play on hard mode. Getting my ass beat was part of the fun because it feels that much better when you start dodging and countering stuff other people wish they could.
    This is why I became a smash brothers god. Would practice with impossible odds. Ended up playing playstation all stars and become number 1 in America as a result. Hard mode baby! Eat your heart out.
    Point is, if you wanna get good, make it complicated. If you just wanna play, you know what do.
    Again, no wrong choice here, just don't like how Neuro was shit talking hotkeys like its foolish. Nah brah.

    Does this also work vs Widow Mines? My lings and banes usually get destroyed by them before reaching the bio.

    • @Yorekani
      @Yorekani 4 роки тому +1

      TL:DR: Pre-split even more. It mitigates your losses and causes more friendly fire. Clean up mines with Ravagers and/or Hydralisks. Use Overseers.
      The same principles apply. You'll take more aoe damage from those if you don't pre-split. Pros may split off that one targeted Zergling. You don't have the reaction time, accuracy and split-second decisionmaking for that. Treat Widow Mines like Tanks. They both require Factory production, they both deal aoe damage and they both have a slow attack speed. The Widow Mines hit harder, but won't fire more than once. Terran has to choose between the two and as long as you don't try fancy micro, your targeted Zerglings will valiantly take down some Marines with them.
      If the Terran player burrows the Widow Mines too far away from the Siege Tanks, any unit with at least 6 range can safely attack Widow Mines without being targeted. Use Overseers in "Oversight" mode (stationary) so they won't fly into the Widow Mines themselves. I'll list the Zerg units:
      Ravager: 6 range, 9 range on Corrosive Bile, which also works. It takes two shots for a kill.
      Hydralisk: 5+1 range, with the "Grooved Spines" upgrade, which is one of many reasons why those Hydralisk upgrades are important.
      Lurker: 8+2 range, but Terran players will probably avoid burrowing within Lurker range. They serve more as a deterrent.
      Swarm Host: 18 seconds on Locusts, but it's not a good trade. Widow Mines have a 30 second cooldown and Swarm Hosts have a 43 second cooldown. Swarm Hosts are rarely part of the main army anyway.
      Broodlord: 10 range, so they can clean them up easily and the spawned Broodlings can cause even more trouble. At this point, the Terran will most likely use Widow Mines for harassment exclusively, as they become a liability if they stay with the main army.
