my great great grandfather was at Gettysburg and my great grandmother and grandmother told me that he saw some horrific things during the american civil war. he was just 18 years old when he went and it forever changed him. he was with one of the Maine Units (not the 20th). I visit Gettysburg whenever I drive through Pennsylvania. It is one of the most humbling visits you will make. Visiting the gravesite of thousands of men from both sides is truly an eye opening experience. We do not want a civil war in our country. we need civil discourse and calmer tones.
ANYONE in the US that talks about civil war as an option should be tried for treason and sent to prison.
I’m Colombian and I know exactly what they’re saying. My country has been in an endless civil war for centuries. It’s been going since before the drug cartels of the 80’s. Fear and retribution is what we know. We have survived as a nation but we will never know what we could have been or could have accomplished.

My father, who was a Vietnam Veteran, told us growing up that there would be a civil war. That's where American society was heading. He called all this out 30 years ago. God rest his soul, he passed before Trump got elected in 2015. He would had absolutely lost his mind had he been there to see Trump get elected. He taught us about Donald Trump and knew that after that Casino of his flopped that we hadn't seen the last of Trump. My dad, a lifetime Democrat, fervently defended John McCain as he knew what he had been through because he had been there too. I hadn't, at the time, looked into the content of McCain's character and I feel it was a damned shame he wasn't a Democrat. Such an extremely upstanding human being and totally set apart from his own party.

I was born in a country that went through a civil war, the former Yugoslavia. That war was dirty and horrible and disgusting. There was ethnic cleansing and destruction of heritage sites and millions left homeless. Is this really what you want? My country no longer exists. It is now multiple countries. If you have a civil war the fighting will be a thousand times worse than what happened in the former Yugoslavia because of your gun ownership. Do you really want this? Can you even remotely picture what this will look like?

We are terrified and developing a form of PTSD. My cousin worked for the US govt and spent months over there beside opened mass graves and documenting it all. The horror changed her, obviously.......

I live in Northern Ireland I’ve lived through the civil war, my husband who tried to stay out of it,not because he was a coward, but because it was something we didn’t want for our family, was shot and left disabled for the rest of his life,my cousin who also did not want it was kidnapped and shot dead, for no other reason other than he was a catholic, so no people of America you do not want a civil war it splits friendships and destroys families it’s ugly and horrible, so please see sense 🙏🏻🇺🇸
This is so true. Some people have no idea how utterly horrible a civil war can be, despite the many examples from recent history. Living in England, my experience of what happened in Ireland is at one remove from the daily lives of those who were constantly at risk of becoming innocent victims of the violence. However, I do remember the level of fear within the community at the mere possibility of being a target, which verged on paranoia. It took imagination, good will and courage for the people in power to come to an agreement - however fragile - to cease the violence and find other ways of settling long running disputes. And, as I understand, it still demands a great effort to maintain that peace. The threat never to peace never goes away.

Why is this even being allowed? We shouldn’t have to deal with these type of threats in a country that is supposed to be a democracy. We are supposed to have law and order and that’s why we pay taxes. Now that this is being allowed I feel very unsafe.
