Love this take. Cousins is a top 10-15 qb . He is quite professional and experienced. With a good defense o line ans weapons the Falcons can be good. If they peak or get hot at the right time u never no. Having a young qb is icing on the cake. Let him chill and watch a pro do the job and learn. His being the 4th drafted had nothing to do with his talent and everything to do with his injury history. So it's not about him not being good, it's "can he stay healthy enough to have a productive career?"

We already know what Kirk is which why the Falcons drafted another QB high in the DRAFT. This only makes sense to those that understand Pro Sports. Everyone else will always behave as if that was the wrong move. Also, No position player drafted is a given, so certain folks need to stop with, well if they would have drafted another person instead, okay same issue, unproven.

Last night doesn't justify drafting Pennix. It justifies signing Cousins. Once Pennix actually plays we'll see if he was worth the pick.
Not to mention, the Falcons still have no pass rush ... Any rookie DL with that pick would have helped their pass rush.

To me what justifies drafting Penix is the same BS you just seen with Carolina. To me it's much smarter to draft a QB with 1 pick at 8 in a strong QB class and let him sit a year or 2 learning. Than to pick in the 18 to 32 range if Cousins is as good as you think he is. Then have to trade 2 or 3 1st's 2 or 3 2nd's and a high end player like Moore for Carolina or maybe AJ/London for the Falcons. For a unknown QB rookie thats gonna sit you back a ton. If Penix misses after learning for a year or 2 you are only out 1 pick and not franchise altering amount of stuff given up. Plus Penix imo was the #2 QB in that class and a perfect fit for Robinson's offense. You don't pass that up if he falls to you with a old QB starting.

I was surprised they drafted Penix, sure. But I thought it was a good move. I think too many rookie QBs are pressed into carrying their teams. Maybe I'm old fashioned but I'd rather not people get set up to fail.
There is no evidence one way is better. Peyton Manning started right away. Troy Aikmen started right away. It depends on the situation and the player.
The problem was never drafting Penix, it was paying Kirk Cousins 40M per year when they could've signed a decent QB (Like Darnold, Fields or Minsew....) for less money so Penix can sit behind, and use the money saved to improve the roaster.

Funniest thing about Colin liking the falcons are the parallels that team has to the jets. Defensive head coach. Older immobile QB. Limited WR room outside of Drake London. Great running backs. A good offensive line. They just play in the NFC instead of the AFC. Even though it looks like New Orleans is better than people thought & Tampa Bay looks good
Pitts and Mooney aren't mid and Atlanta's O-line is top 5 in the league. The jets O-line is average and they have no juice at wr outside of Wilson.
Brother. Mooney has been actively bad the past 2 seasons and while Pitts is better than Conklin he’s been a bit underwhelming too. The jets offensive line through 2 weeks has been just as good as atlantas to put it mildly. Especially considering what TJ Watt and Pittsburgh did to Kirk and company week 1. Colin's gloating about not reacting over Atlanta drafting Penix in the 1st, yet anyone who keeps-up with the sport understood what Atlanta was doing after the initial shock of them taking Penix. Atlanta expected the NFL to give them some punishment for "tampering" with Cousins and some other players, because they slapped Miami with losing their 1st Rounder over "tampeing with Brady and Payton." They decided to draft Penix this year in order to give him a year or two behind Cousins, have a great backup, and prevent themselves from digging a hole by rolling the dice with Cousins for the next two or three years. And when you have a good roster across the board, especially at the OL and weapons, you can afford to get away with that in the short-term.
And after the fact, looking at the '25 QB class and having the NFL show their bias against Miami by only taking a 5th Rounder from Atlanta, they're sitting pretty. Colin wasn't some lone wolf on this point, he's just wanting to inflate his ego because he knows he's so laughably wrong on plenty of other points.
I think we (Falcons) looked better in the first half, and they looked to be the better team in the second half (until they didn’t)
I think it’s hilarious that so many are saying that the Eagles gave it away. Maybe on that one play, but we left points on the field in the first half. As a matter of fact, if this game were played two weeks from now, those plays are executed and two of the golden opportunities for the Falcons to score TDs would have better executed than they were last night. One of those two is probably a TD in a couple of weeks, and the game never comes down to the dropped ball by Barkley. I’ll bet Philly’s defense doesn’t feel like they got beaten by some pushovers…
