This is just the video I was hoping to find, after looking everyone on UA-cam. I just picked up my first ever RC car, a Slash 4x4 VXL, I love it, and want to take good care of it from the beginning.
Purchased a case of product based on seeing the success you had. Great Video. However after using it on my ARRMA 6s KRATON I noticed a milky white substance especially where parts are joined. On the bottom of chassis, paint is actually softened and scrapes off with a finger nail ???? I am sure that I dried and wiped the surfaces, but this side effect won't work for me.
A few times i used the shower sprayer on my hose when my slash was used on a damp grassy field. Rinsed off but didnt flood the electronics area or center diffs. Then used my shop air compressor till truck was dry. Then used some lube in key areas. No rust no fuss. Clean as can be! However I do like the silicone spray. May give parts of my truck a light spray.
I hope you didn’t do any of this you do not put your wheels in soap and water it will ruin them this guy is crazy I have had rc cars for 6 years. What are what is this guy doing
Good vid, just FYI, WD40 is non conductive so it wont harm electrical components. Even so, I 100% agree that it makes a good surface for debris to stick to.
Traxxas recommends using a all purpose cleaner and rinse with water then take your blower and blow water off then do what I do run a blow dryer over car dries everything 10 minutes done
@@wolfboy20 Disassemble, wash all plastics in dish soap and water. Hinge pins, bearings can be dunked in break cleaner for thorough cleaning but, be sure to lube the bearings afterwards. Using any of these auto products on these plastics likely is not a good or the best idea (especially things like wd-40) because many of these contain solvents which in the end makes plastic brittle. Hair dryer is a good idea after a quick cleaning and for making old plastic look new because most plastics are petroleum based and the heat pulls the oils back to the surface and rejuvenates the plastics but, keep water away from your bearings,....sealed or not... Really though and if you want to do things right. Tear your cars down and clean them properly after every 10 or so packs. This also lets you check for damages or issues that in the future cause bigger problems if not taken care of. Just my thoughts and thank you for the video, I do believe the product you have chosen is probably one of the safer products. Dry lube in the spray cans for bike chains is something else I think might be a fairly safe lubricant that repels dust and debris..
@@4WheelRCRyan Harris uses silicone spray and if he says it then I’ll take the suggestion for what it’s worth. Everything else you said pretty much makes 100% although I would be careful with heating plastics though since it’s a very temporary effect and you don’t want to melt anything
Simple green water and an air compressor works just fine as long as it's dried it will not harm anything. I've literally taken a water hose sprayed it completely down then dried it completely and not 1 issue using water.
So I just bought a Traxxas Slash and I was thinking of doing the Silicon processes before driving it for the first time. Would it help to keep apply it first so that it is easier to clean and reapply in subsequent cleanings?
Yeah looks like it's a pure silicone lubricant spray. From their website they claim it will leave a tack free film which doesnt accumulate dirt, so it would be worth trying.
I just watched a video a dude saying spray pb blaster on basically all bearings even motor lol I couldn't believe it I used wd 40 on my links on my crawler one time and I was pissed worried I was going to make it wear quicker.

Great video! Does silicone also remove water from metal etc? And does any silicone spray work?

Great training aid video thank you! (Me and my son are newbies and slash owners.) THANKS!

@@hunterharris6348 I've cleaned my tires with soap and water for the past 25 years. Not sure what you're talking about dude

Does the Silicone spray damage the bearings or make it rough?
No it actually improves the bearings.
Hey buddy. Do you have a part number for the bash guards on the arms that cover bottom of the shocks? Need those
Are those just Traxxas hd arms?
RPM shock guards

What kind of all purpose cleaner??

So when you spray the silicone spray on does it leave a oily residue?
Nope
No….it leaves a silicone residue
@@tojo3507 Brilliant!
I tried this but the silicone created a sticky layer and made the dirt harder to get off
What kv motor are you running? And what gearing? Thanks
My spray can says lubricant with teflon. Is that no good?

Idk
Great vid made me learn a lot
Thanks for the detailed video!
I love your video I have just subscribed to your channel
Where’d you get those wheels?
Good idea, thanks
Does it leave a residue
No
What wheels and tires are those
Does it damage the electrical?
No it dosent
Nice video
Can I use the liquid wrench to oil wheel bearings and other bearings on truck?
Yup! Works great for cleaning and lubricating bearings
@@SlashNBash thank ya. I was wondering.
@@SlashNBash will blaster silicone lubricant work? Found it at Lowe’s.

@@cG-es8mbhow did it work out for you?
Thumbs up to you good sir. 👍
Thank you.
Does it have to be that silicone spray or any?
Any silicone spray works just make sure its not penetrating spray
what shocks are those
They look like traxxas gtr shocks.
Can anyone tell me what he has on his a arms that are protecting his shocks?
RPM shock shafts

PB Blaster is NOT a good option. It breaks down oils and lubricants and can damage plastic components. Silicone spray is the best option.
Can I use a air compressor to blow off the dust
You can, just be careful not to force dirt into bearings & diffs
@@SlashNBash i
Ok thanks
Sub number 666 glad to be here
Cant use silicon spray
Why??….Best lubricant for RC. Even shocks use silicone fluid.
