Reasons why Austin Butler got hate:
    1) He became A-list overnight and people were unfamiliar with his voice before Elvis. (His voice was always quite deep since he was young).
    2) There was a misleading tiktok about his "voice change" that went viral. But those clips were cherry-picked.
    3) His ex-girlfriend's fanbase were spreading wild accusations about him because they were angry that he became successful without her.
    4) The Euphoria hive were feeling insecure about Priscilla so they needed to prove that Jacob didn't care about the role to score "cool points".
    5) Austin is really good-looking and that naturally produces jealousy and distrust.
    6) At some point it became "cool" to hate him.

Any hate or criticism of Austin Butler is insane!!
He not an ‘overnight’ success. He as 30 when Elvis was released, and has been working since before he was 15.
He spent three years of his life immersed in getting every tiny detail of Elvis-through 3 decades-perfect.
He’s dedicated to his craft, and puts everything of him self into preparing for and executing his performance.
He’s humble, grateful, kind, and never takes for granted what he has. He works very hard to give his best work every day.
    He’s the best.

I’m a HUGE Austin fan. I’m obviously very biased, but I think his screen presence is unmatched. It’s really common for his fans to go see a movie multiple times in theaters because we really love seeing him on the big screen. He makes me feel so alive lmao!!!
The hate he gets is really misguided and unfortunate. I think Austin is often misunderstood and reduced to meaningless discussions on whether or not people personally find him attractive. But he’s SO much more than his physical appearance and his voice. He’s really introspective and has talked about his struggles with overcoming depression and grief. He works hard and is constantly trying to improve as an actor. It’s really inspiring.

Elvis was my first introduction to him and I thought he was amazing. Bio pics are extremely difficult, especially to play someone who is so iconic. I had a good feeling he would be amazing in Dune 2 and I was right and cemented him as one of my new faves in Hollywood. Although the hate is waning, it's so dumb. He genuinely seems like he doesn't take his success for granted. He's sort of refreshingly a little bit eccentric too which I feel like has been missing in celeb culture since the mid 2010's or so. There was this big push for relatability which ruins mystique that's alluring in a star. Great analysis! Subbed.

Funny enough I have yet to watch his Elvis film. One thing you missed, is that Austin Butler actually received scathing reviews from critics for his performance in “Masters of the Air”. A performance so mediocre, it would have actually killed his career, had “Dune: Part Two” and “The Bikeriders” not been released soon after. However in Butler’s defense, he did seem to be rather self-aware of how bland and miscast he was in that miniseries, and never attempted to hype his character up. He seems to be one of the few actors in Hollywood who knows when his performance is good and when it is not up to par, but always appreciative at the opportunities he has received.

A completely different opinion - I thought he was excellent in that role, and perfectly casted. And they did do press for it, I've probably watched/listened to most of it, so if you have any questions, please holler at me and I can point you to the right place :) The press was def not as loud as Dune, but still, very much did happen. And Butler and Turner, the two main stars of the show, were at the forefront of it.
But I wonder, where did you see those "scathing" reviews he received for his performance? I know the show itself got mixed reviews, but IMHO most of them are a result of comparing BoB and Pacific to MotA, and with BoB being pretty much a "perfect tv show" it's hard to really look at these series as individual products and not disqualify MotA cause it's "not Bob." Ofc, there's valid criticism, I loved the show and I can see it has its issues, but Butler's performance is not it.

I think thats one thing that really bothered me when it came to the hate he received, is people on the spectrum have a harder time expressing themselves verbally. So when he got hate for saying he "he didn't see his family for three years" he meant it in more of a literal sense. Because when Covid-19 started, and had its regulations he was working and living in Australia (a foreign country for him) while his family were still in America. A sad reality not just for him but for many families at the time. He talks about talking and calling his family all the time during that period!! Which people conveniently did not mention...
Similar to the Method Acting debate, I don't think I have ever heard him refer to what he did for preparation for ELVIS as method acting, unless the conversation was brought up directly to him. Because looking back at earlier interviews from the 2022 press tour he described consciously deciding to speak in the "Elvis voice" all the time (on and off set) so he didn't have to think about it while acting, dancing, singing ect. It was bid for it to seem more natural, and he did it phenomenally!
It also makes sense to me why his culture of working can be seen as "a man getting away with being a pretentious method acting asshole on set". But the truth of that is people on the spectrum tend to be alot more obsessive over those things that they enjoy, he loves his job and thats no crime even if he were neurotypical. From all regards Austin Butler is hands down a sweetheart, and an angel to work with, furthermore.
Hate is one thing, but for him to be receiving hate just over his voice (in the grand scheme of things who really cares?) what really got ne was how people missinterprets the things he says, (even with hiring a dilect coah for himself to "not sound like Elvis" was never a recent or personal thing he did for himself. He hired a dilect coach a week after Elvis had stopped filming because he quickly had to prepare and learn ANOTHER completely different accent for Masters of the Air. Its thie little things like this that get me upset when the media misconstrueds what he says). I understand his mindset and where he was coming from. People on the spectrum are already misunderstood and seeing that hate and backlash in real time was very jarring.
Nonetheless, alot of the hate definitely stemmed from people, and men in general being incredibly jealous of him. He's virtual done nothing wrong, and he naturally has it all, charisma, good looks, talent and being a good person on top of that. It sucks to say but he was bound to be polarizing figure.
As someone who has been along time fan of Austin, this video is so great to see aswell as how positive the comments are! For a long while there's been so much negativity So I'm glad to see the tides turning even if its ever so slightly.

this insane obsession with celebrities is so fkn bizarre, always has been to me, with this guy it's about them radically hating for some odd reason to none at all. while other celebs it's this insane love/stanning for them like in the wildest of ways. I like austin butler in the films I've seen him in, I think he's a solid actor, nothing crazy or special but he's good.
but the biggest thing your video proves is how brainwashed and toxic social media truly is to human beings, especially to younger people who fall into these stan type of hate trains or love trains, it proves once again, that most people follow anything even if they have no idea why they are following it, it's actually really fkn scary in society. you should form your own opinions and thoughts, why follow blindly, it's dangerous not to the world but to yourself most importantly.

As a guy, I hate pretty boy actors or rom com males until they prove themselves otherwise.
I hated Matthew McConaughey for all his rom com work till he did True Detective and other roles after. Leonardo DeCaprio was the same thing with Titanic (didn't see What's Eating Gilbert Grape till long after). Still don't like Timothee Chalemet, because he hasnt done a performace I truly like. Though I never actually hated them to the point of actually posting about it besides now.

I think the issue in part comes down to an appetite for scandal, especially nowadays and especially online, and I think that’s being fed by “content creators” who are deliberately making their videos and articles more sensationalist and alarmist to cater to that, if you think of the likes of Sloan, for example. As you say in this video, there has been a lot of exposing that has been positive and necessary, but a lot more that seems to just be keeping UA-camrs in clicks and subscribers.

    • @AbbieRee
      @AbbieRee  15 днів тому +1

I definitely do think that sometimes when it comes to content people know that the more outrageous the claims are the more discourse and widespread appeal it will get. I do also believe that in some cases the person is quite genuine about there options on said individual and understand that when it comes to content a title and thumbnail could be made more eye catching if over exaggerating, but like you said it does seem that sometimes it comes across a bit forced

I understand the disgust for most celebrities whom are disjointed, part of feminazi cultist groups, Narcissist and at worst, do vile things to children, but I really deeply try to disconnect myself from any Hollywood bs that does not influence the quality of movies we are force fed.
I can't care less about the faults of other people , never mind a stranger in Hollywood (If they don't try to force their views onto me by means of propaganda).
I have a lot more distain for vile propaganda writers destroying culture and defiling works of art (Such as LOTR) to secrete their decrepit world views and personal lives on to the screens, screaming at us to watch it, like it and pay them for it.

On topic, People get jealous. I think for a regular person. They like Butler more now cause in Dune he was in the most entertaining parts of the movie and people like a good villain. Typically people who play villains have longer careers like Christopher Walken and Willem Dafoe. Nobody tires of seeing them get killed. They get tired of watching someone else win. I think it's more noticeable with women cause people dont like to see women picked on but they also like to pick on them. It's weird. It's why it's people.

Idk about most of the hate over this guy, but I can tell you one thing, he needs to come out and accept that he chose to stick to that deeper voice, and honestly I don't blame him. He probably ran into all the "how to get a deep sexy voice" videos, in the search to train his voice for the movie and realized what a plus is with women and in hollywood, he already had to master it for the role anyway, might as well stick to it. Now he did get stuck with the southern accent for a little while, but that eventually went away and just kept the deeper tone. Honestly, the sooner he accepts that, the sooner a lot of that "hate" over his fake voice will go away, which sounds ridiculous just to think that people hate the kid over that...

You’ve not got a clue. Elvis Presley played music that did not, and still does not, belong to anyone. It’s the music of the soulful and it has as much Celtic influence as African. While it makes sense that many African Americans in that part of the world then and now had a lot of soul, it’s not simply about a level of melanin in the skin, and you only have to go as far as your nearest rapper now for an utterly soulless Black person, or remember that most of the Motown and Stax musicians were White and soulful as the singers they backed. And it would also do you good to read Peter Guralnick’s incredible two-part Elvis biography, each book more than 500 pages, which, while not shying away from Elvis less proud moments, at least dispels the grooming insinuations with proof. Or, you know, you could just keep being an ignorant tosser in comment sections.
