I grew up on a street right next to where it shows at 12:00 mins. There was some bizarre things that happened in that area. Lots of death. Always thought there was something off with that place...
My Dad, Sgt.Anson Knoderer was in one of the first group of trainees to leave Camp Fannin for deployment to Casablanca in N.Africa. Assigned to Fox Co. 2-351, 88th Inf.Div. USA in Dec.1943 and served in the Anzio invasion, liberation of Rome and the assault at Mt.Capello. Wounded twice, once at Sante Marie Infante and again at Mt.Capello, survived the war and returned to his farm in Mo., raised a family and passed away on Nov. 16, 2016 at the age of 91. He always had a soft spot in his heart for Tyler and Camp Fannin.
I grew up in Tyler and heard about this place from time to time...but had never seen it. Fascinating!

I heard a tank was found at the site of Camp Fannin a few years ago. Any idea on where it was located, or what they did with it?
