So there I am, with my rock mates, in boston to see the squid show. We took edibles prior to entering the venue, so that the brilliant rhythms and noise of squid could be appreciated to another level. I knew nothing of water from your eyes nor any mention of them. I myself had no idea who the opener would be, I started to get bored and anxious as the minuates ticked by before the first band would play. I waited and waited, and just when I thought I couldnt wait any longer, the members of water from your eyes entered the stage.
They all looked so nonchalant, so above it all, the guitarist turned on his guitar and I was bombarded with the screeching noise of distortion. It was beautiful though, much like hearing an orchestra tune up. Or hearing the startup sound of a console. I was ready to listen to them play!
Words could not truly convey the indescribable joy I felt as I watched this magnificent spectacle of modern music before my eyes, I nearly cried. The repetitive ryhthms, the minimalist chords, the singer's spaced out lyrics, the guitaists noise, and the drummers laser presicion. It was percingly loud, yet my ears did not hurt. For I could hear every part as clear as day.
At one point, the drummer ripped his vape, and blew it all out in a big plume as the drums for "barley" kicked in. "My god!" I said to myself, Not only are they really good, they're *cool* too. They have an *edge*. I was truly living in the moment.
I hope one day I get to see them again. Squid of course was marvelous, but I knew what to expect with squid. This band truly came out of nowhere and I had no expectations on what they would sound like. It stuck with me more than the squid performance to be completely honest.
