I don't even know why I watched this (I'm not taking apart my laptop) but it was kinda interesting. What was really nice was you edited out all the "sit and wait" stuff, whereas other uploaders might make the viewer wait through unscrewing each screw or whatever. annnnnnnnnyway back to whatever
@ranvig1 I think they're pretty standard connectors. The ribbon cable goes in, then there is a locking tab that you slide down and it holds it in place. To remove them, you push the locking part out (towards the middle of the cable) and it releases the pressure on it. I hope that makes sense.
Yes you can--the same processors I've used will work. In this video I use a Turion II P540, and I've since upgraded to a Phenom II N660. Any S1G4 processor with PXXX or NXXX numbers should work. You don't *need* to upgrade anything else if you don't want to.
@RdotdUk Not sure about cooling--I've never had any problems with overheating even while playing games. You can easily replace the RAM or hard drive by watching my videos, probably the DVD drive too if you wanted.
@Peter Miranda It should work fine. I have that exact processor in mine now. Make sure you get the processor completely in the socket and you didn't bend any of the pins or anything. What does it do exactly when you try to boot?
No, you don't need to do anything in the BIOS. When you boot up the first time you will see the "found new hardware....." message, it will tell you to restart, then you restart and you're good to go.
I don't see how. All the heatsink does is touch the top of the processor, and the screws just hold it in place. Putting it back on you want to tighten each screw gradually so you get even pressure on the processor face, but when taking it off it doesn't make any difference.
I don't think those will work, but I haven't tried. I have tried both 25W and 35W and they work fine, but I'm not sure if the motherboard will support 45W. One commenter said they asked eMachines and they said it won't. If you try it, let us know if it works.
I have one of these laptops, if I upgraded the processor and the RAM would it be capable of running Skyrim? Or is the built in graphics processor insufficient?
hi this is an excellent video i have the acer emachies E442 with the amd v160 processor with just one stick of 2GB of ram but i have just ordered the AMD Turion II Dual-Core P540 cpu and 4GB (2x2GB) Corsair ram to fit into it but how much of a performance increase should i expect with the new cpu and ram thanks
Well, it looks like it would barely meet the minimum specs--but it would fall well short of the recommended. So it would probably run, but poorly. My machine (with cpu and ram upgrades) barely runs Need for Speed Undercover, if that helps.
I have a brand new Toshiba Satellite C655 with a Pentium Dual Core T4500 @ 2.3ghz processor and a Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family. Are there any suggestions you could give me to where i could play some of todays popular games battlefield? i like to use my laptop for gaming mainly and would like to upgrade it. Thanks.
Mine works just fine on 1080p. The video gets just a bit choppy, but otherwise fine. Not sure the processor has that much to do with it, could be a slow internet connection too.
@compguy531 It's not hard--if you've taken it out you'll see how it goes back in--the bottom goes in first, then just snap it in around the sides and top.
@MegaR3000 Probably not--that's already a dual core and there aren't many options for your particular socket (socket S1)--see this list: enDOTwikipediaDOTorg/wiki/List_of_AMD_mobile_microprocessors
oh dude, this was absolutely what i needed to see. i want to upgrade my processor from a dual to a quad core to extend the life of my notebook. i also plan on upgrading my 250gb to 1tb so if you have any instructional vids on that could you point me in the right direction AND i would like to upgrade my ram from a 4gb to a 6. so its pretty much an overhaul...
I didn't change the RAM, only the processor and I don't have this laptop anymore. You can see where the sticks are in the video though, just look and see what type yours are.
@AllOutNoobHater The limitation with most laptops is the graphics chip. Most including yours don't come with a stand-alone graphics card, so therefore you can't upgrade it. I think your processor will be ok for newer games, but the graphics card will be the limiting factor. For a specific game, go to systemrequirementslabDOTcom to check your specific system against a particular game's requirements.
Sorry I don't really have any benchmarks from my single-core. Now I have dual core N660, I've never tried a quad-core on this machine. I can say it won't really affect those games at all though because they won't use all 4 cores anyway. You'd be better off with a higher Ghz dual core. No matter which processor you have this isn't a great gaming laptop because the graphics chip isn't that great.
Nice Video. A lot of people already told me it was not possible. Thanks For Posting. Is Possible to do it with eMachines E443 with AMD C 50 1.00 Ghz, 2.00 GB Ram And 250 Hard drive? Thanks
kalidou sow Should be, but I'm not personally familiar with that particular model. From what I can find your socket is FT1, so you could probably use C-60 or C-70 and possibly E-XXX or E1-XXXX group. These latter ones are 18W TDP where yours is only 9W, so they may or may not work depending on how your motherboard is set up.
@meanmugfan If you watch the first video (link in the description) you'll see where I remove both the hard drive and the RAM. The only other steps for the hard drive are in this machine you'd need to move the hard drive bracket over to the new one (couple of screws) and you'll also need a way to re-install Windows (or whatever OS you have). Good luck!

I'm not sure how I would even test that--the screen is only 1366x768 and it doesn't have a blu-ray drive. How are you trying it?
@Peter Miranda It should work fine. I have that exact processor in mine now. Make sure you get the processor completely in the socket and you didn't bend any of the pins or anything. What does it do exactly when you try to boot?

And if I have an AMD processor can I switch to intel. I have the 2007 model emachine desktop

What other mod's are available? any to help with cooling?

Do you know how to change/upgrade a Graphic Card in That Computer or E443??

how much are the processor's approx.?
when removing the heat sink you must take the screws out in order which are numbered otherwise you could damage you old/new cpu

Hi, thanks for this video :)
Was there much noticeable difference in performance after upgrading the processor?
oh dude, this was absolutely what i needed to see. i want to upgrade my processor from a dual to a quad core to extend the life of my notebook. i also plan on upgrading my 250gb to 1tb so if you have any instructional vids on that could you point me in the right direction AND i would like to upgrade my ram from a 4gb to a 6. so its pretty much an overhaul...
What ram did you use? Can you provide a link

Very useful guide. Thanks very much!
There is only 1 speaker
You can't. The graphics is just a chip on the motherboard and it's soldered on there.

You dont need to change anything bro.
this is why i hate taking apart laptops, should have just a freaking desk top lol
@popusimi ummmmmm.......no
Just what i heard......
?? Care to explain yourself instead of just throwing out insults?
