Well, that's a treat. The man, the myth, the legend. A wise owl lurking in every nook and cranny of DIY speaker building for the last several decades of my journey. Somebody get Wolf a beer!
Some of those are "mad scientist" type designs and some are pretty conventional looking. It would be nice to have a list of parts and measurements of the cabinets or frames so those who wanted to try it, could make something similar or even tweak it. Very cool.
I've built many speakers over the years with various degrees of success. I can't wait to be able to attend a competition like this just listen to everyone's designs.
Howard, I've listened to them at Perry's house and they're truly amazing! He's really perfected the open baffle format and this is his third or fourth iteration of it and they blow everything else away. I think the only reason he didn't win was because he didn't have any chance to adjust them for the room.
wow i love this!. you see amazing talented and creative people in there so wonderful designs. like korling99 say " better than a normal audio show for sure"
The next Speaker Design Competition will be in Springboro Ohio, around the beginning of August 2025. There will be announcements leading up to the event. Thank you for reaching out!
Not a finished product by most people's standards. I wonder how what the experience of listening to it was like? My way of saying more than wonder what it sounded like or how it sounded. A couple coats of flat black paint would have cleaned up the appearance. I enjoyed seeing it in the raw or as found materials condition.
So much p-poppin and proximity effect on the microphone! Plus background music that covers up what they're saying, I can't hear. What horrible audio quality on a video for audiophiles.
What a super cool event - better than a normal audio show for sure

12:00 love it nothing like advanced acoustics technology created using cardboard, hot-glue and duck tape. seriously cool.
True rapid prototyping.
hey! those are all advanced materials! it's not like he used sinew and bones and rock dust.
@@simonlinser8286 it would be alot cooler if he did
@@mitchellclark6458🤣
The Over Easy Eggs design is beautiful. It's definitely a look for the small stylish apartment.
My vote is for Perry Marshall open baffle. Diy most can make.
Love the build quality of those cardboard box speakers, that sticky tape is top shelf engineering.
And not a cable riser in sight
all these guys are insane - please dont ever stop

Good work everyone - Thank you so much for doing this Parts Express

This is so cool, I added attending this convention to my bucket list.
Nice to see more active crossover designs.
The Goosbumps look like the Flux Capacitor!
I realy would like to hear the dipoles! Mind blown from the creativity people! wow
Those live edge dipoles are definitely end game. I wonder about an active three way set up with the hypex fusion amps. Drool. 🤤

What's the coordinates for your Acoustic Temples/Chambers - Love It 🔈🕯
Their designs are very 60s and 70s but it really looks awesome
Really cool stuff, I would love to learn more about the decaline speaker.
I'm not going to lie, I was not expecting cardboard.

From India🇮🇳🇮🇳
I gotta make it one of these!
Damn man i need to go to this. Fir time aligned linkwits esque dipoles.
Would love to hear a demo track with the Live edge open baffle system. He may just have something!
More over price stuff that you truly do not need for truly good sound 😊.
Yes over price speakers and HiFi stuff.
I vote for Perry Marshall's speaker
Wow! Man I would love to go to one of these.

Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells...hope it sounds clearly good...
Interesting event and many very different concepts and design executions. Too bad no spherical designs though.
Very cool!

So nobody brought an IB?
Wow, super cool. But... listening to all of these hyper-intelligent engineers makes me feel like a blithering idiot. 😂
Do you still have a catalog. I need a few things.
We have a digital catalog located here:

@@PartsExpressOfficial got it Thanks.
Is this something people can come spectate?
Absolutely!
Would love an event like this in Australia
agreed, sad we don't have nearly as much maker culture down here for anything that isn't powered by explosions
13:23 Needs another port that's square in crossection.
How does one build any of these? Does Parts Express sell any of these as kits?
We do not sell any of these as kits, but we do offer many different styles of kits that can be modified to your liking.
So cool

Tubular belles or the cardboard dude
Competition or exhibition?
It was a friendly competition with rewards provided by Parts Express. All of the entries were fantastic. The judges had a very difficult job.
Incredible. Wish I could have been in the audience, however painted cardboard was not my cup of Tea.

Is it April 1st?
Shame could not hear them aswell

Do we need a supercomputer to calculate the odds of Klipsch buying Mister cardboard and duct tape's design ?
..from simple to absurd...😅
