- We invited our foreign friends living in Vietnam to try some of the famous Vietnamese fruits, including rambutan, persimmon, sugar-apple, and of course, DURIAN! Durian, king of the fruit. Many people don't like its smell because it's so strong and unpleasant; but when you eat durian, it doesn't take as bad as its smell. It is so buttery taste, sweet and creamy. I like it a lot.
Every Vietnamese person knows how to eat durian for the first time to fully feel the wonderfulness of this "King of Fruits". But every video I see on UA-cam doesn't show anyone giving instructions on how to eat for the first time. The warning from the person who invited you to eat and the smell of Durian have eliminated all your feelings about its wonderful deliciousness.
1/. If you don't like the smell of Durian, you should not pick it up and smell it before eating. Absolutely do not smell it before putting it in your mouth.
2/. Take a deep breath, hold your breath, pick up the Durian segment, put it in your mouth, chew and swallow (while still holding your breath).
3/. For the second bite, you can keep the durian (chewed) in your mouth for a while to feel its greasy, juicy texture before swallowing.
3/. Rest 1 or 2 minutes before eating again. And now, when you feel the deliciousness of Durian, you can no longer hold your breath while eating. Because now the unpleasant smell of Durian will no longer eliminate all sensations in your mouth.
Durian is the king of fruit, its smell is strong and heavy, and its taste is shocking when tried, By the time you eat them, you'll be addicted.

Sau khi ăn một quả , bạn phải uống ít nước để tráng miệng , sau đó mới ăn quả khác , như thế mới cảm nhận được mùi vị của các loại quả khác nhau. Đây là những loại quả mà ở Việt Nam có rất nhiều. Chúng thật sự ngon đấy.
I couldn't eat it when I was a kid but my parents really liked it and my extended family enjoyed it too. It is a king fruit and it was really expensive in the past. About 20 dollars for a small portion and my extended family of 6 only bought one to eat. Maybe you can't now but try to eat a little bit and try to be patient with it. In the end I think you will like it. Like someone from the first time you see them. They don't make a good impression on you, you might hate them but try to be patient and you'll find out that they're so cute and awesome.

One thing about sugar apples is that if they get just a little too ripe, chances are they have maggots in them. I hope the ones you got were maggot-free ;)

Không phải ai cũng thích ăn sầu riêng vậy mà giá của nó đã cao lắm rồi,nếu mọi người đều thích ăn sầu riêng thì có lẽ những người lao động thu nhập thấp sẽ không đủ tiền để ăn nó nữa.May thật!

Hello!
I could never EVER trust someone who reacted so negatively to sugar apple. Screwing up your face? Stop lying to yourself and the rest of us. I don't like fruit or sweet foods, but I understand that sugar apple is OBJECTIVELY delicious. Similarly I never eat chocolate because I don't like eating sweet things, but I understand it too is objectively delicious.
No trustworthy person eats chocolate and screws their face up like they just ate crap. The same is true with sugar apple.
And sorry but all I can say to those attempts to eat durian is... losers. You'd think they were being asked to eat dog paws.

I hate durian so much. No matter what, I can not reconcile the smell with the taste. It's so odoriferous that when I ate it one time, I could actually still smell it wafting up from my stomach up to my nose, like smelling but in reverse. Rambutan is super delicious though.
