Let me just say on a personal level I will never take for granted that gallon of milk in my fridge ever again! These videos need to be shown in every classroom to show kids the work and dedication that Farmers put in to put milk on our tables! Thank you Eric for showing the city folk what a real hard days work looks like! Good bless you and your family bro!

One of the coolest videos I've watched in a long time! Thanks for making me a bit more informed about silage and the incredible amount of work it takes to harvest, store and maintain the feed. I will certainly enjoy my next glass of mike with the appreciation of what you and other dairy farmers do for us.

Eric my name is Gary. Back in the day I worked on my uncles farm which I missed terribly when he had to sell. Wish I had made it a career but unfortunately did not work out. Working on the farm I really loved. Good and honest work which kept me going strong and alert on what was happening in the world. It's good that this country has people like yourself that was raised apparently with great family morals and contribution to society. Outstanding family is the key to people like yourself. My hat goes off to your family and your upbringing. Please keep up the good work and I THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE AND SUPPLYING THE PRODUCTS IN NEED TO HARD WORKING PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY. THANKS AGAIN..... BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!!

Boy I think I rather deal with that than hay the old way.
Ugh, before the days of automation a bailer was the fanciest piece of equipment on the farm.
Anyone remember picking up after the bailer and hand loading bails on the trailer and hoisting them to the loft?

Christians have one answer to all questions. Everything that happens on the farm..good or bad...is God's will. Why do you only listen to Christian radio in the tractor ?......It's God's will. We had an awesome year because it's God's will. It was a disastrous year on the farm, that's OK because it was God's will. Christian's blame everything on their god. Blzt a new forager cost at least 500 k and the. You need tractors to cart the silage and roll the stack so it’s a very expensive set up. And all depends on acres huge dairy’s like farming fixing and fabricating chop that much that it becomes cost affective to run your own machine for quality and a cost point.

@@rolablox1009 , that's a pretty wide brush you're painting with. Muslims can be very similar with Inshallah or Mashallah, I hear that constantly yet I don't assume the "Muslim" answer to everything is that. I think the Christians you are talking about believe in predestination. I do not and most I know do not. I think if you engaged in a good conversation with several Christians of differing beliefs doctrinally and theologically you would find it interesting and maybe even enjoyable. I hope nobody has done something bad to you in the name of being a Christian, I know that happens. We are all just human at the end of the day with all the flaws and short comings that entails. I'm glad you like Eric's channel, he's a down to earth guy that works hard and keeps a positive attitude on life. Maybe that's a life model we can all agree is good.

It appears the trench silos require a lot of material and man-power to fill and maintain. I would think the cylinder silos would be more efficient. They can be filled with very little man-power, they are already covered, they don't need to be compressed with machinery, unloading for feeding requires little man-power. I am sure the initial expense of constructing either concrete or metal structures, such as A.O. Smith is steep, but, so is pouring all the concrete for the trenches.
