Very massive content doc. Please the hep B profile cassettes lab scientists use nowadays have the Core antibodies but do not tell whether it's the IgM or IgG that's positive or negative so please how do you then know if it's acute or chronic infection

When the Surface Antigen is positive and Core Antibody is also positive while others remained negative what can you say about the infection

Hi Dr. this will depend on what type of core Ab is positive… if it’s anti-HBc IgG positive, then this indicates a chronic or past infection… But if it’s anti-HBc IgM positive, then this indicates an ACUTE active infection… Hope this helps.
