..... there is difference in those breeding under natural conditions and poultry farmers,,,,,,, hormones respond to increase in sunlight,,,starting 21 december..... breeding ringnecks in captivity earlier than spring is un natural.... the instinct in birds is guided by winter/spring rains in our region, meaning expected availability of food in nature....captive birds are a different scenario, but they shud also b managed as close to nature.....fertility is also linked to temperature....colder temperatures( close to zero) or hotter close to 40 result in infertility due to effect on sperm quality , it has nothing to do with birds sitting inside box or being on HEAT,,in bird fancy we do not use word Heat,,,we call it ' in condition ',,,, the disease of second clutch is commercial .....one clutch raised by parents is enough...second clutch shud b allowed if eggs of first clutch fail... feed natural stuff and minimise use of medicines/supplements,,, that is key to healthy and longer living birds..
