I love this channel. The way he talks about rather obscure SCPs most don’t know have general knowledge of, has a generic name like Dr. Bob, and keeps his face hidden, makes me think he’s part of the O5 council or someone nearly as high up.

@@aletron4750 no way! Next you'll be telling me SCPs aren't real too!
this is something that may seem insignificant to people who aren't Japanese. but i really admire bob for his pronunciation of Japanese words. he's done several videos featuring SCPs of Japanese origin, and he always pronounces it correctly. it feels like he is actually respecting the origin and holding true to it, instead of butchering the name or giving it some horrid english version, which has been done to so folklores and yokai
It's amazing how some people can mess up Japanese pronunciations. Most Japanese words can be dissected into simple 2 letter syllables.
Like: Ga-Sha-Do-Ku-Ro
I 100% agree with you, I gotta give respect to anyone that takes a moment to properly (or at least try to properly) pronounce words that come from different languages. It's a small thing, but goes a long way.

@@minatori3145 The giant skeleton would probably win most of the time.
@@admiralinvertebrate5649 Gashadakuro would just punt the horsemen
I think the horseman would win
I think that this’ a question where you can say either would win but it would also depend on a multitude of factors, where are they? Is there a body of water nearby? What time is it? Could could the Horseman outrun the Skeleton and wait until it’s banished? Would the skeleton be able to catch up? How many riders does the horseman have?
I think that the horseman would win though since they’re supposed to be very intelligent, especially if it’s a 1v1 situation, the Horseman could hide himself underground when he realizes that he can’t harm it via conventional means, and if he has multiple riders then there’s the chance he could buy himself some time to free himself from it’s grasp if it grabbed him. So long as he isn’t backed into a body of water, which is probably the only scenario I can see the skeleton winning in, he would have this easily
Mind you I am assuming that this’ if they both had some prep time, know each other’s weaknesses, and start at the beginning of the night in a forest with wide rivers and start at opposite sides of said forest

As Stalin-ssb mentioned, Gashadokuro is from Japanese urban legend. It was created around 1960 but base design goes back to 1845. Famous 浮世絵(ukiyoe) paintings by Utagawa Kuniyoshi called “相馬の古内裏”(So-ma no furu dairi)
Original story was that, this huge skeleton monster was merged soul of forsaken corpses that were left to rot. It walks around with it’s jaw open and when it finds it’s victim, it will grab and crush them before consuming. However from backstory of Original painting, this skeleton was summoned by siblings of 平将門(Taira-no Masakado) who was legendary warlord to crush their opponents.

damn wikipedia you scary Gashadokuro (がしゃどくろ/ 餓者髑髏, literally "starving skeleton", also known as Odokuro) are mythical creatures in Japanese mythology.
Description
The Gashadokuro are spirits that take the form of giant skeletons and are fifteen times larger than an average person, said to be created from the amassed bones of people who died of starvation or in battle, without being buried. Other ways that a Gashadokuro are said to be able to be formed is from the bones of those who died to plague, and those who were put into a mass grave. The peoples’ desire for vengeance causes the Gashadokuro to roam after midnight, grabbing lone travelers and biting off their heads to drink their spraying blood or crushing them. There is a way to know of their approach, as the victim would hear the sound of loud ringing in the ear caused by the rattling of its teeth. The Gashadokuro are said to possess the powers of invisibility and indestructibility since it is composed of the bones of people who are already deceased, though Shinto charms are said to ward them off.[1][better source needed] Otherwise, a Gashadokuro will continue hunting its prey until its pent up anger is released, causing the bones to crumple and the Gashadokuro to collapse.[2]
In the entry for Gashadokuro in Mizuki's book, a related tale from the Nihon Ryōiki is introduced. It tells of a man in Bingo Province (Hiroshima Prefecture) who is in a field at night and, hearing an eerie voice moaning, "My eye hurts," finds a skeleton there with a bamboo shoot growing from its eye socket. He removes the bamboo shoot and offers the skeleton dried boiled rice, upon which the skeleton tells him the story of its murder and its personal history, and rewards him for his kindness. Though this tale has been conflated with that of the Gashadokuro, the two are in fact unrelated, the Gashadokuro having originated in the later half of the 20th century.
Mythology
One of the first known myths of the Gashadokuro dates back to the tenth century. During the tenth century in Japan, Taira no Masakado, a prominent samurai from the Kanto region was ambushed one day by three of his cousins due to quarrelling over marriages. Enraged by this, Masakado retaliated by burning down their residence, killing one of his uncles, Kunika. Taira no Yoshimasa, who was either Masakado’s parental uncle or cousin, wanted to avenge Kunika and challenged Taira no Masakado to a duel. Upon winning the duel, Yoshimasa, embarrassed by his defeat, called upon Taira no Yoshikane, another one of Masakado’s relatives who fought over the same woman. Yoshikane, who was the assistant governor for Kazusa Province, was easily able to gather many warriors and other officials from his province. On the day of their battle, Masakado, despite only having around 100 poorly-equipped soldiers, was able to inflict heavy casualties on Yoshikane and Yoshimasa’s forces, which was estimated to be thousands strong. After his victory, Masakado was summoned to the imperial court in Kyoto due to complaints received about him. Fujiwara no Tadihira, Masakado’s lord, however, most likely lightened his punishment and helped him get a pardon from the court. In 937, Yoshikane, anxious to avenge his humiliating defeat, once again battled with Masakado. Masakado, injured in the fight, tried to flee with his wife, Yoshikane’s daughter, but was unsuccessful. In 939, Masakado started a minor rebellion referred to as the ‘Tengyō no Ran’ (天慶の乱) ("War in the Tengyō era" or "Tengyō Disturbance"). The armed revolt officially began when Masakado attacked one of the central government’s outposts in Hitachi Province. Later that year, he conquered Shimotsuke and Kōzuke Provinces, claiming the title of Shinnō (New Emperor). The government in Kyoto acknowledged his attacks as a revolt and put a bounty on his head. Taira no Sadamori, his cousin, and Fujiwara no Hidesato killed him in 940, decapitating him and brought his head to the capital in Kyoto for a reward. Masakado’s daughter, Takiyasha Hime, a famous and powerful sorceress, was infuriated at her father’s killers for disrespecting him. She conjured up the first Gashadokuro with the bones of those dead in the battle where Masakado died. To take revenge, Takiyasha Hime unleashed the Gashadokuro on Kyoto. It ravaged the city until Masakado’s head was moved to Shibasaki, a fishing village that eventually became Tokyo. The head became a sort of demigod there, with a grave still standing today near the Tokyo Imperial Palace.[3]

@@skippy161 hear me out: what if we captured those skels and put them with the demon core?
Took a Gashadokuro overall appearance and behaviour, applied to it a strange SCP-shared trait as a twist and finally gave it a Yurei trait.
In the actual myth, Gashadokuro are entirely made up of the bones of people who died of starvation (explaining their munchies) and are pretty much unstoppable, once they locate a prey, they will not stop until they've caught and devoured them no matter what or the distance. Even for a Youkai, they are incredibly resilient and seemingly impervious to any kind of harm.
(The idea of them spawning from people who died in especially disturbing ways is actually far more akin to the Yurei (the japanese take on the classic ghost), except that Yurei, although the more disturbing the fate, the worse the Yurei, don't even need a tragic death. The dying simply has to be in a not-completely-serene state of mind while passing to eventually come back as a Yurei.)
Overall, a good twist on some of the most disturbing folktales of Japan.
(P.S. If there is anyone reading this that knows better than me about this topic, feel free to correct me. I'm a fan of paranormal and supernatural folklore, not an expert on it.)

The firebombing though that one was spicy.
