James James, I’ve been watching you since you had played on the first channel. Your Rolling Stones videos have given me a new appreciation for alternative tunings and your always the first person I turn to when I’m ready you learn a new song. Thanks man!
Dang! Well done! Makes me think. People always refer to the guitar greats in Hendrix and Clapton, I think maybe Townsend and Harrison should be closer to the top
Thanks for all you do brother. Love the way you play and teach... The songs you choose... The fabulous axes you have... Too cool. I went to the privtt channel and liked that a lot not getting that they were both you... I just listened to you explaining why you had to shut that down. I don't blame you. I can't believe all those jagg offs would do that kind of think to someone that is just sharing his heart. I'm 20 years older than you and I grew up with all this music and I've been playing longer than I'd like to admit. Thank you again for just being who you are. Please know you are greatly appreciated. Keith
James James, thanks for doing this tune .I forgot how to play the intro .Ive followed you since you started. You’ve been an inspiration to me playing guitar. Thanks.
Was driving home this morning after work and heard this song. I learned it about 30 years ago but haven't played it in a long time. After watching 4 or 5 YT videos after getting home, and wasn't convinced, I came across your video from what I later found out was from your old channel. THIS is the way I learned and played it back in the day! I wanted to comment to let you know, but realized that it was from 11 years ago. I saw your "10 years of privettricker" video and watched the whole thing. Awesome job, man. Yours is the kind of channel I want to watch. Keep doing what you're doing. Love it! Thanks again.
Wonderful that you added this back again. This Kid’s Alright, James! Thank you for all that you do.... I’m a much better Guitar player now, because of your work... - Ken in Hawaii C-19 Lockdown!
I simply can't decide on a favorite Who song, but this one is somewhere up top. I always loved the timpanic quality of Moon's Premier drums. Anyone who thinks this is easy to play because it's strumming should just try it. Your right hand will shrivel. Townshend is a helluva guitarist.
Try an attempt at windmills! I've been playing since the 70s and am a huge Townshend/who fan - but I could never duplicate that one Pete playing style - and believe me, I've tried!
Dang - I used the index finger on the verse and didn't let the B string ring when I did my full Tommy cover. I think that was because of all the videos I saw of Pete playing it live. Now I have to go back and rerecord it. Dang dang dang. I think the index finger is used in the 4th chord of the intro though.
The song that made me want to learn guitar. Great job playing this total classic. You've certainly got the right tool for the job - that's an absolutely gorgeous SJ200, it really sounds killer. Is it a 90's production or older? I think the older, the better with that Gibson model....
I’ve played some vintage Gibsons that were dogs, but this one is fantastic, from the late 90s. Some of the guitars being built now - by Gibson and others - are far superior to the older ones that command such high prices.

This is a definite exercise on how to build up your strumming chops! Love Pete's guitar techniques!
Prepare to sweat.
James James, I learned this from your lesson about 8 years ago and today I can play along with this video. Thanks!
I love great rhythm playing more than great leads....so cool
So do I.
Dang! Well done! Makes me think. People always refer to the guitar greats in Hendrix and Clapton, I think maybe Townsend and Harrison should be closer to the top
Couldn't agree more!

Jenkins Boat Works Pete is an excellent rhythm guitarist, I put him top 20, I wish he had more solos in their songs
JJ ( pt ) you must have an amazing memory .... all the little bits 'n changes in all the so many songs you play !
One of your best performances! Great.

Fabulous, ty. I used to love this when I was a teenager and I haven't ever watched a cover of it. Great stuff.
You are the best. Just love your videos! Thanks for the tour of your video room the other day too!
Awesome job as usual. It’s a bright point in my day to see another excellent cover I can learn from. PT/JJ is always good for that. Love from OH.
Alright James....in my musical journey, I've played alota stuff, but now I'm learning the stuff I avoided like the Who. It's alot of fun.
I have watched the PT video many times and a great lesson from that one as well.
Absolutely superb. Thank you.
Perfect timing! I started learning this last night! Good on you mate - you’re an inspiration to many!
Very tight, James. Excellent as always. Thank you.
I knew parts of this song. Thanks for putting it all together. Your strumming hand rivals Pete's Great job!
Go JJ ,my favorite Who classic.
Exact tone perfection!!!
just fantastic playing
The way you strum that E chord with the triplet sounds so cool.
very beautiful my friend, greetings from Argentina

That was awesome. Giving me a workout strumming
A seriously great sounding acoustic guitar...thanks JJ
The video we’ve all been waiting for. Thank you JJ
It doesn't more intense that that! What a strum!
Right on. A thinner pick helps too with the strums
Yessss!! Have to practice again 💙💜❤️💚🧡great James

Just, WOW!!!
short but sweet...great cover....as usual
awesome!

The Who. Thank you 😋

The J-200 was a nice touch
It definitely sounds better with the E and B strings ringing...
Yeah, not many play it this way... nice to hear it the way it was recorded.
I think so. But doing it on electric, the open strings would make a heck of a racket at volume.
I always played it with my pointy finger on the B and E strings. But this version makes the chords almost sound more mystical...I can dig it...
🏆🏆🏆⭐⭐⭐🤗🙏🙏
Awww nothing better than you happily strumming your Pete.
My breaking in new strings song...
🎸👍😎
Dude. I mean. Dude!
James, would you say this version you're playing is like based off the 'policeman's secret ball' whatever version from 79'?
Hey all in i guess the pre chorus it looks like B A D e minor then what is the next chord? Thanks
It's 040200 (low to high) Pete plays it a lot of playing an E chord.
There’s no E minor, it’s an E.
@@jamesjames9275 thanks, guess my ear training sucks haahaha
Thick or thin pick? Also 2:47 mark would have been the perfect time to throw a windmill strum or two in there.
For this one, a thin pick.
Tempo again perfect.... but not robotic...if that makes sense
what guitar are you playing? Gibson _____?
J200.
This song is more like work.
:D
Tuning? Is it regular?
Yes. Pete doesn't use altered tunings very often.
@@jamesjames9275 no he doesn't... except an occasional drop D for It's A Boy.
Abbey 72 Imagine a Man is another from the glory years. And he used a couple on Endless Wire.
How the f**k do you figure these songs out?
ForgottenJamRoom One chord at a time.
Pete Townshende hates this song lol
Townsend smashed a Gibson just like yours after playing Pinball on Letterman. Kind of painful to see: ua-cam.com/video/eP_an9Nssls/v-deo.html
awesome!
