With the holstein bottle babies its hard to make it work, unless you know what you are doing... Sounds like you can give a lot of younger folks some great info on raising bottle calves! Keep up the great work

Very informative and helpful video! Holstein market is a rollercoaster for sure! I learned to get them straight from the dairies can control disease. A large sharp learning curve.

Curious to get more info on contrite you use after your starter mixing 2 to 1 with corn. Also info on rations, growing calves fat and happy!

300 pounds in 16 weeks... You are doing it right. I had 7 month old that were hardly 400 . I was only feeding 2.5 pounds of feed which did not work. Im on 15 and never thought of full feed or anything because I am not familiar with pushing steers but now I am hoping for better luck this year. My 20 percent starter is not as much as ur starter. Thanks for the video.

U got more dairy’s than we have. We only got 1 in the county. Thanks for the posting I like hearing the financial side because we haven’t fed cattle for other than freezer beef for 30+ years.

Who says you need to go to Vegas to gamble. I know you don't like your setup the best, but I think your calf pens are ingenious. Way to use out of the box ways to make it work. Do you plan to use your air duct again? Also have you thought about using the old fashion brown Lysol to help disenfect. When we raised hogs we didn't have a farrowing house just old sheds we only farrowed about twenty a year but my step dad always threw line out he always told me that's why they white washed stuff on farms natural disenfect. I really do enjoy your videos.love watching a guy use what he has. When I was a kid guys were almost giving bucket calves away course we didnt ever have alot of dairies around here I think at most three. When I was a kid I used my paper route money to buy runts pigglets at the sale barn and raise em up to fat hog weight. Can't wait for your next video and see what you've engineered to make things better. Sorry for the long comment

Very good vid and you were very open about your costs,( I never do this because it wouldn't look good) but have you ever figured out how many hours of work you have into them by the time they are 7months old? Looks like you got it figured out to a science . Will the calves get slop or only after 7 months?

Yea I imagine it’s tough to get bull calves. Sexed AI was getting popular in 2002 when I was milking, is that something that works now? That price for calves is about what I would have to pay.

child that waving camera kills us! change the breed, throw them into rotational grazing pastures (no cost to very little cost - except for purchase price) and your profit will be expedentially higher - still cost your time, energy and effort...Best wishes.
