    Excellent advice on a leaking panorama roof on my series 2 VW Tiguan. Your advice enabled me to go straight to the drain tubes and both sides we cleared and cleaned and all trims put back in place in less than 40 minutes. Brilliant advice and cost free - many thanks.😅

    Thank you for showing this - the easy access in back... yup big issue with drains being blocked in my 2016 Sportwagen SE. VW. VW had fixed the front issue but not the back in the recall. I see there is a class action suit, the problem is so common. My whole rear spare tire well was full of water.
    Suggestion on cleaning headliner with the foam... I find it effective to clean darker stained portion headliner very lightly with brush (even a tooth brush) when foamy - then to blot with dry cloth to absorb dirty liquid. I discovered in past that rubbing a stain with the cloth sometimes embeds the dirt and it can set in... especially any rust particles.

    Good solution, but if your problem is simply clogged FRONT drain holes, you can snake pipe cleaner or a Drain Weasel (what I used) into the drain holes in the open sun roof to clear any clogs. No need to remove headliner. Not possible for rear drain holes because sunroof cannot be opened to expose them.

    I had the same problem on my 1999 Miata but it was a very easy fix, with no disassembly needed. Now it’s manifesting on my 2016 Tiguan. I’ll give this a try. Thank you.
    BTW, I suspect it could be an issue with ANY car that naturally collects crud - pine needles are the major offender where I live - and I suggest it’s a good idea to carefully inspect collection points for drain holes that could get plugged by debris. I’ve had a couple of cars where it could appear under the trailing edge of the hood near the lower corners of the windshield - not leaking into the interior but potentially contributing to rust. It’s a shame that manufacturers don’t highlight these better, as needing periodic attention.

    A very well description of a problem and demonstration of a simple solution, which was extremely useful also for me with a similar problem on Golf Sportsvan 2014. After 7 years no tube was clogged, but the left rear on got detached. I also managed to clean the stains as described. A big thank you.

    I have a 2012 Tiguan 155TSI that has slightly wet carpet in the rear passenger footwell after rain. I can not see any stains on the headliner. The front footwell is dry. The drains run down the right and left A and D pillars. From watching a variety of video's it appears that the faults will be either the attachment nossel to hose silicone connection breakdown or a drain blockage that's causing the leaks. It must be that the water is tracking along the edge of the headliner and falling down the B pillar to wet the carpet. Not sure where to start but I'd say it's probably the front as inertia would generally push water backwards. Great Video CCD.

    I pulled the rear side trim panels .....the blue hoses are easily accessed there, I detached them from where pass through the body floor. I attached a garden hose and flushed water on low pressure up the blue hose .

  • @bajicdusko
    @bajicdusko 2 роки тому +1

    In my case, it wasn't clogged on top, but the little rubber on the floor, where this blue drain is connected to.
    As the water couldn't go out, it leaked from the rights side (below the stop light), across the trunk floor and most of the water stayed below rear seets.
    I managed to drain at least 10l of water from the car. Unbelievable.
    And I haven't fixed it yet. Although I cleaned that rubber adaptor, it looks like blie hose is a bit short and it still leaks. Maybe I'd have to extend blue hose and pull it through the floor

    You're still gonna have problems on the front drains, i cut the front rubbers off short so i doesnt bind up the dirt inside that nozzle (located under the windshield, behind dashboard), and put on some hose clamps on the top where the tube & sunroof connect. Hope this helps, peace!

      @@CCDVIDEO try hoseclamps, but dont tighten up too much since its made out of plastic. Vw's sunroofs are known to leak (they knew about this but didn't recall them, sucks right?)
      Since i fixed it this way (about 1y ago) they dont leak anymore and feel comfortable letting my car outside even with heavy rainfall...

  • @YuriAurich
    @YuriAurich 2 місяці тому

    Did you check for the holes on top? if you open the Panoramic you will find 2 holes, that connect to the drain under the hood. You MUST clean those all the time otherwise the overflow water will go inside the car.

    I have a 2013 VW Tiguan that is leaking water on the inside. My front windshield is often covered when it rains and the carpet is soaked on the driverside. This has recently been an issue because the moisture or water is getting into the car seat wiring and motor, which I had to replace. I got the sunroof water drain tested twice, which came back clear. Everyone I talked to is stumped about how the water is getting into the car. I'm not bringing it to the dealership because they are thieves that try to charge me $1700 just to look at what is wrong with the car seat when it stopped working and then said it could cost up to $2500 for whatever needs to be fixed that' cause the car seat to stop moving. I brought it somewhere else and got the car seat looked at and fixed for $150, which is when I was told about a leakage somewhere in the car that's soaking the carpet and around the driverside seat. I think the problem is the sunroof or the top of the front windshield. I know it's not the sunroof drains being clogged. Can someone offer me any help.?

Got the car from the dealer it had a wet smell inside. 2 days later I discovered wet carpet in the back 😢 my car have been in the dealers service department for 2 weeks 😔 claim they had to order new traction rails for the sunroof. I just want the water leak issue solved.😢😢😢😢😢

    Great video. Thank you. Do you think applying a good quality wax to the roof would help resist water and dust? Perhaps a high quality balm to help keep the rubber seals from drying out and cracking and leaking?

    • @CCDVIDEO
      @CCDVIDEO  4 роки тому +1

      Wax def won't prevent water leaking through. My car is coated with Gyeon Syncro. The water makes it's way in through the rubbers which is normal, but what ain't normal is the rails, drain tubes blocking up and prevent the water from draining out the car, instead now they push push out all over and drips onto the roof lining

    had this blockage on my Passat B8 GTE, water then ran into my PHEV wiring loom at the bottom of the A-Pilar, resulting in up tot 2000€ worth of damage. because of this stupid plug and the lack of checking this at the dealership each time the car has to go in for routine check-ups. VW and AUDI know of this problem, the internet is FILLED with sunroof drain issues but the like the €€€ it provides i guess. I'm having my car repaired, the sold of. No VW for me anymore.
