Despite this software looking quite intriguing, I have yet to find an English tutorial on it except yours. I just cannot get it to work, and I am at the edge where I am considering whether investing more time is worth it. I finally figured out that it tried to start a nonexistent engine the whole time, which is why my Patchbay was empty. Now I add instruments to the rack, but they don't appear in the Patchbay :/ Using latest version on Arch Linux.
I'm dealing with a few oddities on my side using the latest pre-compiled binary for Carla 2.0.0 (which I agree, is so much more stable). When Carla is running, I don't see it listed in Qtractor's connection panel the way you do. I'd expect it to be listed as a Readable Client like what you're showing here. Since I have Carla setup to use JACK, I'd expect it to create these ports. Another difference on this side is that I do not see "Internal" and "External" items in my Canvas menu like you do. I just see a greyed out "Arrange" followed by a usable Refresh, Zoom, and Save Image. While I'm here, I might have a tip for you on the Qtractor side as far as those persisting "system" connections are concerned. In the buses panel, there's an "Auto connect" option you can toggle. By unchecking, I believe that will solve the annoyance you described.
WOW! I just found the fix in Carla's configuration Engine Audio Driver: JACK Process Mode: Patchbay The Patchbay process mode was the game changer on my side. Now, Qtractor sees Carla's ports! Thanks again for sharing your insights through these videos. Really great stuff and much needed in our community.
Make sure you are using carla patchbay in 'patchbay' engine mode. Also set the engine to Jack with Alsa midi. You won't see the midi connection in Qtractor without connecting in Carla, but you should see the audio in jack. Edit: I see you found it.
Hey thanks, I am new to music and all this. Why do we need the simple channel filter? If i don't connect it to the filter I hear also the sound from the piano.
Thank you for making this video, I needed a good way of creating SFX for my videos and animating in blender all at the same time. I know people are using Ardor and jack transport, but it's ugly as F. I'll go with qtracktor it seems like. Looks kind of complicated, but hopefully, I will be able to edit, record and compose music all in the same program, not many people made videos about qtracktor so thank you.
Carl, Thanks again. I finally got it! Now I have full control over every aspect of the mix. Granted, there's a fair amount of work needed to scale tracks and auditioning sounds is still a PIA but overall, this is great! imgur.com/kMdOvIc.png
Watching this as I'm compiling the just-released Qtractor 0.9.11 :)

Ok I googled, we use this if we want to use more than one Instrument.
@@valentin4711 Yep. You found it.
