I'm going to help all of you on this. Make sure you do the timing chain cover timing chain and harmonic balancer. They all work together and it's good to do them all at once then separately. Or you will have to tear it apart multiple times like I did in one week.
the return water pump hose should be replace While u r in there also thermostat and there r two sensors also. 3 or 4 months later u will not have to go back in there again?
I Would never use that trim adhesive! Have you ever tried to scrape it off WITHOUT using an Air tool? It doesn't come off with a Conventional Scraper easily especially if it has been on there for say 70,000 Miles. I'm doing a Water pump right now where someone use trim adhesive and got it all over the bolt threads, not a lot of fun to get that gunk off of anything. RTV is about the same price, and was designed for holding gaskets, and/or in place of gaskets. After 30+ years under the hood, I strongly advise NOT to use Trim Adhesive, heat will make it brittle and it could leak, not to mention getting it off a gasket surface is a real pain! if you REALLY need to tack the gasket...use either High Tack spray Gasket, or a thin coating of RTV! The fan Clutch Holding tool you can get at Rock Auto for less than $30.00 Lisle 44180 Rock Auto's price $28.79 You'll need that and a 36MM Wrench.
Can I skip the gasket and just use silicone? I keep having leaks after installing this pump. Granted, I don't remove the upper hose on the pump and it makes reinstalling it a pain in the butt.
Je P Most parts stores will have a fan clutch tool set, online, Amazon of course. If you have the ability to make tools from metal you can make something work, really I would not try to tackle it without the right tools.
Big ass adjustable wrench + hammer. If you need to, you can put your ratchet on the belt tensioner and turn it left, to tighten the belt. Unless there is a lot of rust on it.
Random question this has Nuthing to do with the water system but does with a doge on my 1994 doge ram 15000 why does the drivers side back tire always blows out an am only going like 60 or 65 not any faster any ideas
I replaced the power steering pump, radiator, water pump, three days after the pump the by pass hose all in a three month span what will go out next guess[ ] motor[ ] tranny [ ] altinator battery[ ] starter [ ] the whole dodge Durango off a cliff with me not in it
+Leonardo Gonzalez He took it off so he could access the bypass hose that was behind it. It probably could have been done without removing the compressor, but it would have been much harder. Great video! I will be doing this job on my 1998 Durango tomorrow.
Come on any one can take things apart the real deal it's to put everything back together and you cut the video o well o and by the way patent those pliers they seem to work pretty good
He cut the video on purpose. When he took off the bypass hose. That snap you heard wasnt the hose. It was part of the block. The adapter that the hose is mounted to. He broke it off. Trying to pull the hose off that way isnt a good idea. He was right. He does make a mess of things.
@@markthomas8698 Actually no. It was just the hose tearing off. The rest of the hose is still on the neck on the manifold. Look closer at the torn end of the hose. What you are seeing is rust inside the hose, not part of the neck. If the neck had snapped off that easily, it was rotted out and would have failed anyway...
THIS GUY IS WRECKLESS AND GIVING NOT SO GOOD ADVISE . IMPROPER USE OF AIR WRENCH, BY PUTTING WRENCH ON THE BOLT WHILE ITS ALREADY RUNNING. GOOD WAY TO STRIP OUT BOLT AND SOCKET
Thank you for the video, I remember my first water pump install, craftsman ratchet and extensions, no power tools, it took forever.

Where do you get the special fan clutch tool? And is there another way to do without that tool? Thanks

you can rent the tools from your local auto parts store AUTOZON

Dam looks like you did it the hard way lol I did all this without taking off the AC you don't need to
If he didn't How would he get the little hose?
Awesome the key in bat term.
Was the short bypass heater hose a specialty curved hose or can a short piece of straight automotive heater hose be substituted ? Thanks J K
i bought it pre-bent as a specific part from amazon, but cutting a piece of hose of the right type might work.
Where can I get that tool. Autozone has a fan clutch wrench but I had no luck with it.
Plastic bag over washer neck reinstall cap should hold fluid.
