    This is a great video. I appreciate the detailed descriptions and that you didn’t go on and on about everything. I would love some feedback on how it holds up? Do the corks holdup? Do the darts stay in the cork when they stray off the dartboard?

    • @MakersBestFriend
      @MakersBestFriend  4 роки тому

      Yep! Holds up really well over time because you don’t normally hit the same cork spots. But you need to use good corks (not ones that are more torn up)

    If you steam or boil the natural (not plastic ones)corks first for 10 minutes then you can cut them without shredding them.

    It looks great! Do you know how many you corks you used? Just wondering if 100 are enough for the 36 x 32

    • @MakersBestFriend
      @MakersBestFriend  3 роки тому

      Thanks! It’s actually way closer to 400 corks to fill in the entire area - it’s a lot cheaper if you can find used corks on Craigslist !

      I was just going to ask the same questions as I've been picking them up from friends and neighbors.

    You should be able to turn the dartboard from time to time, otherwise the 20 will get worn out. Other than that, great video! I'm gonna build my own this week

    • @MakersBestFriend
      @MakersBestFriend  4 роки тому

      Yeah I’ve considered just using a screw from the back that way it can be turned! Awesome !

    It looks great! What type of corks did you use? I’m not sure if I should buy used synthetic ones or if I should stay away from those.

    • @MakersBestFriend
      @MakersBestFriend  4 роки тому +1

      Stay away from synthetic - they don’t absorb glue too well and don’t really give a good luck

    MBF, love your vid and checked out your Etsy. Question re your Etsy: I love the spiral design but would want to add a circular dartboard lighting system. Is the board attached only with glue? How woud you suggest I add such a light with your corked board? Thank you, Sean
    P.S. I subscribed as well!

    • @MakersBestFriend
      @MakersBestFriend  2 роки тому

      Thanks so much for all the love ! I’ve actually switched to attaching the dartboard with a screw inserted in from the back. Where are you trying to add the light ?

  • @RoWBirD
    @RoWBirD 5 років тому +1

    This looks so great and I'm about to build it myself. But will the darts bounce out, if I hit the corks or will they stuck there?

    • @MakersBestFriend
      @MakersBestFriend  5 років тому

      Sweet! They should stick as long as it’s a good throw. There’s always the chance of bounce of it doesn’t have enough force to really get in there. Basically, if it was gonna stick in the dartboard, it should stick to the corks.

    What kind of glue did you use for the corks?? Did they come out when removing darts from the dart board?

    • @MakersBestFriend
      @MakersBestFriend  3 роки тому

      Just used wood glue and it works great ! Nope they stay in place even with darts

    Great video! I am in the planing stages of my own Dartboard backer. I was wondering how the velcro was holding up? I like that idea!

    • @MakersBestFriend
      @MakersBestFriend  2 роки тому

      Velcro worked great, but I’ve found the best option to insert a screw from the back into the center of the dartboard so I can rotate it

      I make them in 36” x 30”! I think 36” x 32” is better but for shipping purposes needed to reduce itp

    did you put velcro on the back of the dartboard too?

    • @MakersBestFriend
      @MakersBestFriend  4 роки тому

      I did in the original design. Now I just use a screw through the back of the backboard, because that allows for rotating the dartboard also

  • @yungnwa

    How did you hang it?

    • @MakersBestFriend
      @MakersBestFriend  4 роки тому +1

      The dartboard itself comes with a back frame mount that is strong enough to hold it up, just make sure to mount to studs in the wall or some dry wall anchors

    What was the border wood dimentions?

    • @MakersBestFriend
      @MakersBestFriend  4 роки тому

      They are currently 36” x 30”, but that’s mainly because it’s the shipping limit. In this video I believe it was 36” x 32”

    Would it be better to cut the cork in half and then glue it down?

    • @MakersBestFriend
      @MakersBestFriend  4 роки тому

      It was definitely a consideration but then they break apart much easier over time

    Nice work but not practical to rotate the sectors and central the board.

    • @jacobgallaugher
      @jacobgallaugher 5 років тому

      Easy solution: Glue all of the corks ABOVE the board together into a solid chunk (you can do this with the rolled cork as a backer), then velcro that chunk up above the board after installed. Since that section can be removed then the board can be lifted to remove it if necessary. That being said, if you just get a good board and use the hardware that comes with the board then rotating the board can be done without picking it up off he backboard.

    One comment about this background of dartboards. The eye should not be overtaxed. It becomes overtaxed the it his too much information. A "BUSY" background overload for the eye. The eye should be concentrated on the object of the throw, not distracted by the background. The background of this dartboard does not allow the eye to fully focus on the point of aim. An interesting job otherwise.
