    I'm really glad I ran across you you helped me a lot I haven't bought my in town Seattle I've been going to buy them for over a month but they're so expensive

      Yes...they are pricey...but they last a long time . If you are unsure if you will like them...you can buy a few favorite go together colors ( they sell seperately at art store) and then you can work with them..try them out and then if you like them buy a kit. K

      I try hard to ensure I use the products that I have invested in. Some are easy and others I need a bit of a nudge and maybe some UA-cam inspiration. Glad you found an idea. Karen

    Karen, I think I have watched all your videos on INKTENSE blocks, even though I only have the pencils. (For now!). I'm not crazy about acrylic paint, so I have been using my pencils on everything I need colored. Lol...today I tried them on some wood and chipboard leaves that have finely cut open leaves. Even though I made a bit of a mess with INKTENSE crumbs under them, they look great after brushing them with water. Thank you so much for your information, which gave me enough nerve to try it! (New subbie)

      Im so thankful that you found those videos useful. They were pretty much my first attempts at making videos. I love my blocks. They really are so worth the money. Pencils work totally the same. Good for you. Karen

    Karen, you always have such great tips. I am going to get my Inktense blocks out with some stencils and make some backgrounds. I also think the idea of putting all my stencils into scrapbooks. Thank you, once again for sharing your clever tips. Happy New Year to you.

      I have never tried using the blocks with fabric. I do remember seeing some videos that did use them with fabric. Search for that in UA-cam. Fingers crossed. K

    You did a great job on the Inktense Blocks series. Do you have any ideas for another series? How about doing the same type of series using Gelatos? Watercolor pencils/markers?? You really think through the options for using the product. Thanks for taking the time to inform and educate beginners and experienced crafters/artists.

      Thank you so much Janet . Actually I'm not quite done with the Inktense Series yet. I'm hoping to get a couple more done tomorrow. I'm planning to cover how they work on top of different products and how to do some of the techniques that you can do with other paint or ink supplies. Life just sometimes gets in the way of creative pursuits.

    Hi Karen! I haven't found all pf your Inktense series, but wondered if you tried making alcohol inks & used on polypropylene sheets, like Yupo, surveyor's "paper", etc. & compared to store bought alcohol inks? Made acrylic, or PVC inks (glue, water & inktense isn't too far from acrylic ink) or acrylic mediums (Liquitex & Golden make a lot).
    VERY nice to watch you create with Inktense blocks! They are a VERY versatile medium, and the blocks are very manageable size for most artists, much moreso than buying say an ounce of a single pigment in powder form, grinding for different colors and so on (although that's fun too!)
    Also, wondered if you'd tried oils with them? That would be fun!!!
    A set of these would be a GREAT starter for newer artists, especially if you can use these with oil, alcohol, acrylic, water, glue, etc. That's an economic way to get some new people started, AND great for some old hats too!
    Have you tried to use like Brushos?
    I LOVE these!
    Thanks for showing how you use them! Very nice! I'm going to look for your other videos! I have an idea for tapestry printing with these! They DO "stain" (or dye), so why not do so with purpose to it?
    I'd love to do some dry to wet mono printing with a press with these. I've already got a project with a dry-wet print/transfer going... I'll have to add these into the mix!
    Textile medium is great with these too!
    I LOVE experimenting & seeing others experiment! Fun way to have wonderful accidents, new ways to play & so on!
    So let's keep playing! :) GREAT videos! I need to find your others!!! The more of us play, the better chance at AWESOME breakthroughs! :) Let's keep playing!!! I need to get some videos going!
    Also, getting casein & a drop of honey can make a more traditional watercolor... egg whites tempra & wax mixes (tree and beeswax, or encaustic medium) encaustic paints (exciting stuff!) and so on!
    If you mix with a binder, or chemically bind to the surface you're painting or printing on (vinegar is used as a binder for food colors on egg shells, and so on)... possibilities are endless!
    Fun stuff!

      Carol...wow you have lots more ideas for these blocks. They are extremely versatile and you have given me some things to experiment with and see. I particularily like the idea of trying to use like brushos. Let me know what you try...keep sharing. Thanks for watching. Karen

    Have you tried mixing up some scraped off powder with aloe vera gel to make a thicker paint and then dipping your stamp in it or dabbing it on with a makeup sponge?

    Thanks for all these great ideas. I look forward to checking out your other Inktense videos. I had a little trouble hearing (your audio is good ... my hearing is not) will you please tell me SPECIFICALLY what type of silicone mat you were using that was perfectly smooth? I want to get one but there seem to be so many different types.

    • @KarenBurchill
      @KarenBurchill  9 років тому

      +Nancy Cornett I bought the silicone mat at the dollar store. It is very soft and pliable. Other than that I don't know any other descriptor. It said it was for cookie sheets/baking sheets. Good luck in your search. karen

    Have you tried using the wet ink on the silicone mat like you would in printmaking? I mean rolling the ink onto a brayer or foam roller then onto the stamp before stamping? Seems like the ink would go more evenly on the stamp that way and anything left on the roller might make interesting light swaths of color on a scrap page. Just something to think about.

    • @KarenBurchill
      @KarenBurchill  8 років тому

      +ChibiChula Yes that process works really well. And those scrap pages often end up being the best. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment. Kady

    Thanx for the tips. I would like to c how these backgrounds r used in your journaling pages. I've used my journals for small paintings & sketches to work out colors etc for larger paintings. I haven't done collage for several years but I don't think that's what u r talking about for these beautiful creations u make. My imagination is failing me when I try to c the journaling application.

      This is one of my very first videos.. These aren't necessarily backgrounds as demos of different techniques you could use within a mixed media spread..As for application in art journaling...I use the Inktense blocks to stencil or stamp ( as you would with other mediums). I find stenciling with Inktense to give a different look on top of acrylic than acrylic stenciling. In the Inktense block series I wanted to show how they could be used to do all the various art journaling techniques....so people maximize the use of this product. I hope this clarifies things.
