@MaliEndz are you gonna buy a deck and play it for 3 days and never again? That's not a fair comparison if you use a single player game and compare to a multi-player card game. It has to be a multi-player game with competition like a fighting game or a MOBA or some other type. Which those games can be anywhere from Free to maybe $60-70, assuming you already own the console, which can gives you free access to everything the game has to offer. Where yugioh struggles is that if you dont have access to everything because they are all stuck behind multiple paywalls. If I'm playing Ryu in street fighter but want to play Guile or Dhalsim I can pmay them for no extra charge since i already own the game. But say if you spend X amount if money on let's say a Tearlament deck but then decide later you want to play Rescue ACE, you have to spend more money to get the cards. The only thing that stays constant are potential staple cards that can fit into multiple decks.
@@maestrotritone5975 it is a fair comparison. You are saying that $100 is still asking for alot on a deck when alot of these budget decks last months if not years until they see any hits if ever compared to other hobbies where you spend the money for a couple hours of enjoyment. MW3 being a great example of a $70 activity for a 3 hr campaign and a multiplayer you will give up shortly after
@MaliEndz Are you gonna spend $100 on a yugioh deck and give up on it shortly after? Or are you gonna be long term with it? Because if you wanna make comparisons you have to use the same setting for it to be fair. Playing yugioh over the course of months or years is not the same as playing a game for 3 days and never again.
I was able to make a Blackwing Kali yuga build on Tcgplayer for roughly around $70. It might not have the strong additions like dis pater, chaos angel, S:P but as long as you can summon kali it's pretty easy win. Handtraps can be changed however you like or are willing to buy/afford. The more synchro based versions of Blackwings are much more expensive as they like to run accel stardust/dis pater/chaos angel/bystials.
I’m surprised ghoti didn’t make it into the video, as I saw people mention it in the thread. In fact, it got to buy the rest of the ghoti core, which aside from white aura whale (which I think you can play without) was very cheap. It’s one of my favorite decks I’ve played, when I first had it in MD. Even better, ghoti is getting new support in Phantom Nightmare.
Probably because it's not competitive, even with the support :( It has a lifeline in the TCG via triple Crossout (can search Peces/Shef and the little lure dude) that'll keep you from getting fish-out-of-watered by a singular hand trap...but eh
Traptrix costs like $75 and some pocket lint, has some really good matchups, and can even main deck Anti-Spell. The Prosperity reprint made the full power version so much more accessible. Only problem is it takes more than two brain cells to pilot to success, so most will say it's bad.
Traptrix still has a massive going second problem since you are main decking so many traps that are conditional on your opponent summoning monsters, something they don't have to do on turn 3 to dismantle your entire board assuming they let you make one.
@@frig7014 You can say the same thing about loads of budget decks this format (irt having a problem playing into a board). If you're playing on a budget you're not gonna see the same level of success as people spending $1000 on a deck. That's okay, and literally the point of the video. They're certainly more worth discussing than Earthbounds or Megaliths.
@@nightwish7074 well some of these decks listed like drytron and virtual just have an infinitely easier time playing into a board. Traptrix *specifically* has a very hard time playing into a board if it didn't open a non engine board breaker because it only has 2 cards in its archetype that remove monsters already on the board (pudica when special summoned, and atypus) getting either of those two effects off requires being able to already get decently thru your combo. Compare this to drytron which can immediately contest something on the board by making anima, has sufficient board spamming capability to go into generic extra deck outs, and has natasha whichc an steal up to 3 monsters to use for even more link climbing & lethal pushes.
Between this and Little Knight, there's been a lot of discussion about the absurd prices of some cards recently, but I don't see how that ends up translating into actual progress, sadly. The competitive players will pay what they have to, and if people are buying it at that price, it'll stay at that price.
My Crystal Beast deck is pretty budget friendly, the only expensive cards on it are Zeus, Talents and whenever I manage to find one SP (wich currently I do just fine without, Unicorn is just about as good 99% of the time. The only real reason I want to replace it is that SP doesn't mess up the Chidori locks).
I am so happy that someone brought up exosister. I've been topping consistently with it at locals for a couple weeks now and it has a pretty decent fire king matchup.
A lot of decks just end up playing in to it but exosister has really easy ways to remove all their resources with all the banishing and the ability to entirely lock down the gy too.
i call it the super fun variant, rn pure with d shifter loop and super poly is just better. Sadly i hate that version is so booring. But krystia solos basically this format. My fav still goes to adventurer frog version
No one mentioning Gate Guardian being pretty fun and costing 15$ at most to order everything 3x and with rarity collection and all the staple reprints in 2023 it’s honestly really fun
For anyone wondering, I'm a bit of a dumbdumb and went above 130 on the Zoodiac list bc I accidentally checked an OCG listing for Fenrir lmao. Cut 1 Fenrir and the TyPhon from the ED and you're riiiiiight at athat 130 mark tho :3
Huh noone mentioned P.U.N.K or more specifically the Therion version of it? After the 2 Reprint waves its dirt cheap to pick up and Resonably powerful.
I think I paid under 130 for the complete vaylantz core with ALL the collectors rares total price of the deck is kinda impossible to calculate though considering you can just put whatever you want in the extra deck I recommend the otk strategy. The stun build is literally just introducing a ton of chokepoints for an endboard that dies to more things than if you just shoved every stun staple into a big pile. The blind second build on the other hand is resilient enough that I once managed to otk tear 0 despite all my fields getting milled through gas and brute force alone.
Swordsoul is honestly will always be a decent option. It has relatively minimal hits throughs its lifespan, and its still competent enough to snagging tops. Its the most a bang for your buck deck right now.
the chimera core is like 60 dollars and will only get better with more illusion support. main deck 3 gazelle 3 mirror swordknight 3 quatl 2 berfomet 3 chimera fusion 3 branded fusion 2 albaz extra deck 1 guardian chimera 17dollars 1 chimera king(you only need 1 trust) 9 dollars 1 illusion beast 2 berfomet king 1 mirrorjade 1 albion 1 lubellion 1 rindbrum 7 dollars
Im surprised no one mentioned this, but you can normal summon Aleister for less than a bonfire. Shaddoll was known for quite a while as one of the best budget decks with its trap variant, which can be bought for like $20 due to its structure and the 2021 mega tins, but nearly all variations of the deck can be bought main, side, and extra for less than $100.
Cheaper SP Little Knight is Pitknight Earlie. It has quick interaction with monsters and returns at the end of the turn to give you more arrows to pendulum summon to.
Orcust when it initially dropped before the sevond wave of support were pennies, you could get the entire deck core and three copies of Return for less than $30. With reprints of Dingirsu and Girsu the entire core is incredibly cheap along with the scrap engine or mekk-knights.
0:46 I hope one day the "but first" clap gets repeated 3 times before the sponsor read xD I dunno why i thought of this but it sounded satisfying and funny in my head lol
The best one for sure is salad, i got my entire main side an extra for less than $100, the deck is definetly more expensive now with raging phoenix spiking like crazy, but is still well under $150 for a tier 2 deck thats probably tier 1 with promethean princess.
Respect to the man Matpat. So if you wanted to build Fire Kings, you can still build Fire Kings and run a small amount of Sinful Spoils techs and get same result of running the Sinful Spoils package...well not really, it ain't as consistent but if I was able to play Yugioh, and I wasn't paying for all that expensive ass card board, I would just run more of the Fire King Beast Warriors, 1 Coach King Wolfbark, 1 to 2 of Original Snake-Eyes, 1 to 2 Populus, One for One, and Infernal Flame Banshee to get to the Populus. I just said this on Distant Coder's video about the price of card board being too damn high, but I will say it again. It is crazy, how many people will pay so much money, to consistently summon a level 1 Fire Monster, when cards like One for One exist. I wish it were at 3.
You've identified the problem with that build, it is totally possible and I'm doing something similar, but with the good (expensive as shit) cards you can do all that with a minimum number of the beast-warrior fire kings and have all that juicy non engine room too.
Nemleria is definitely NOT a playable deck right now (I say as someone who picked up the core for pennies and built a shitty Gren Maju blind second version of the deck for like $10) but there’s some silly synergy between it and the new Yugi/Gandora Sarcophagus of Light stuff that should be cheap in LEDE later this year, and I’m excited to try that casually for the cost of one McDonalds meal
Man, don't tell me about Springans. I''ve been building the deck but for some ungodly reason I can't find copies of Gigantic Champion Sargas and Exblowrer ANYWHERE in my country.
Currently working on a Speedroid/Synchron build. Use the roids to go into marcher then have marcher go into either Crystal wing, baronne (if it ever gets unbanned), Stardust assault/charge warrior or just link it into apollousa, rubber shooter or platinum gadget.
If I could bring my pet deck to paper, Magikey Libromancer would cost 82$. The expensive part would be the Triple Tactics package - 2 Thrust 1 Talents - which elevates the price to 200$ (yeah, Thrust is super expensive). All and all, Ninja has tops and costs at least 40$.
Springans never saw its time in the competitive lime light because it's a deck compromised entirely of 2 card combos that needs to open well to play through a single well placed handtrap and lacked a unique and unfair endboard payoff aside from cyberstein, which was something shs did better anyways. The deck also lacked room for more than like 9 non engine spots as well
and it got its last support at a time full power tear izizu was a think XD. Its so sad cause its the xyz Archtype of the branded story but ehh. they where scared cause zeus prob.... Anyways goblin riders look excellent rn, will def be tiered after hits of snake eyes.
Surprisingly, if you still insisted on playing Fire Kings this format, you could play Fire King Dogmatika. Every main deck card in there is pretty cheap with the exception of Imperms and a single copy of Maximus being anything over a dollar (barring the structure decks themselves). In the extra the most expensive cards are Garura, Linkuriboh, and Masq, and you can build a pretty competent side board with the most expensive cards for my build being Super Polys. if we were to work around TCGplayer's tax factor, the deck is $110.
Its really funny, i left a swordsoul comment on the thread that wasn't used, but i think i highlight how crazy bonfire's price is, i bout Swordsoul about 2 months ago for $128, with drolls right before the reprint was announced... With Ty-phon. It wouldn't be doable now, because i caught Ty-phon at $18 where its currently over $30 (mo ye is also up $2.50-3.00 and emergence is up $2.00-2.50). But literally just replace ty-phon with a filler synchro of your choice and its pretty at about $115, with all the staple handtraps and board breakers.
MBT: "Why did this tier 0 deck that was probably the best deck for several consecutive format just become completely unplayable when one power card got banned?" Because the only reason anyone played those decks is they were tier 0 meta threats, no one actually liked playing with or against them so as soon as they stopped being the undisputed best pick people either migrated to decks they actually like or decks that do the same thing but are the new undisputed best at doing it
the thing is, spright was or still is the closest thing we will ever get to modern BA, and as far as toolbox enjoyers goes, we have exactly 3 decks to play rn, Spright(s variants), Rank 3 axis goblins, and exosister( rank 4 toolbox). In my locals its still popular cause the people who play them like me really like them, elf ban hurst, and roninban is super bad but we just splash another rank2 thing in. Its just the classic meta hoe shit. trust me pre snake eyes diverse formats there where around 40 decks viable most people don't know about cause its buried in discord channels. then tier 0 hits and welp , no wonder people just don't care to experiment.
Im late but if you take out thrust and replace it with the book of eclipse in the side deck (and get rid of the side deck) YOUR Ten Minute Testing ZARC list is only $112.
While it isn't considered a top tier archetype I started looking through Icejade cards and supports and they are pretty cheap too... Until you reach the best of staples and extra deck. Tactics thrust $90, Baronne $50, Accel Stardust $30 are the three main expensive ones I saw But many of the other supports that work with it are cheap, such as Synchro Overtake into Deep Sea Diva combo or XYZ sharks for N.As.H. Knight, Number 4, 101, and 103 combos. Could also use Kaijus where you use waterfront field spell for the points with Gameciel on your side of the field for multi use omni-negate + banish.
Surprised no one said ddd. The core can easily be bought for under $40, and though the deck may be tough, and the deck is very weak to bystials/droll, the deck can be fairly powerful and resilient if you’re willing to be patient
problem is everytime som ask for combos they get send a 40+ site spreadsheet. ...its like darksouls of Yu-Gi-Oh. You just torture yourself. Anyways iam playing synchrons since 12 years so for me that again is easy but ohter people want to die. So prob goes for som playing ddd for 8 years.
@@nsreturn1365 honestly, I know it seems very daunting, but most of the combos resolve the same once boiled down into their simplest parts. Maybe my perception is a bit skewed cause I’ve had a fairly decent grasp on how the deck functions at most stages of its life since release. I wouldn’t say its combos are particularly difficult, just a bit more involved. Extra steps never hurt anyone, though I get why it’d turn people off. I guess we’re just relegated to unplayable hell for the time being 🤷♂️🤷♂️
Ghoti is my choice for this prompt; I think the most expensive card currently is White Aura Whale @ $15. The PHNI cards aren't out yet ofc, but I don't expect them to cost all that much.

Huge ups to Dire for editing in the price points for each viable suggestion
Mad shoutout to that one guy who mentioned Weather Painters. As someone who plays them IRL. Mad respect!
Probably because it's not competitive, even with the support :(
It has a lifeline in the TCG via triple Crossout (can search Peces/Shef and the little lure dude) that'll keep you from getting fish-out-of-watered by a singular hand trap...but eh
its prolly b/c the react to this one was borderline immediate
The problem with listing decks like Dinomorphia and Labrynth is that Transaction Rollback is out this set. And it's presale is around $90 USD.
"Don't buy Nemuleria" WYM? This deck is so much fun! And it's pretty good fr
Sleepy girl mass banishing the opponent's stuff is so funny
@@frig7014 Exosisters
I got the $75.00, but I'm short on pocket lint. Got anything else?
Dinomorphia is a competent deck that cannot see competitive play cause of time rules
Its topped multiple times, that meme isn't true anymore
is stalling for time a legit strat against dinomorphia?
I can see transaction rollback being good in that deck which is like a $40 card
Literally fire kings. Just use dogmatika. Reject sin, embrace the light of Maximus
Appreciation comment for dire and that intro, and the intro's origins. MBT is here too.
Ye don't fire kings just play into any of the exosister gy effs?
A lot of decks just end up playing in to it but exosister has really easy ways to remove all their resources with all the banishing and the ability to entirely lock down the gy too.
Abc is also well under this budget if you run 1 rev synchron and 3 tuning
Runick fur hire spright might be the fifth best deck post PHNI and without SP it’s cheaper than 1 bonfire.
i call it the super fun variant, rn pure with d shifter loop and super poly is just better.
People are sleeping on Branded, you can get the entire deck for around 200$ and it's the cheapest competitive deck right now next to Floowandereeze.
I think I paid under 130 for the complete vaylantz core with ALL the collectors rares
total price of the deck is kinda impossible to calculate though considering you can just put whatever you want in the extra deck
I recommend the otk strategy.
Marincess is the the most competitive here. It still tops YCSs and Regionals everywhere.
5:27 PLUNDER PATROLL MENTION, MATEY 🏴☠️
(Buy Nemleria. Embrace the sleepy girl)
the chimera core is like 60 dollars and will only get better with more illusion support.
main deck
3 gazelle
3 mirror swordknight
3 quatl
2 berfomet
3 chimera fusion
3 branded fusion
2 albaz
extra deck
1 guardian chimera 17dollars
1 chimera king(you only need 1 trust) 9 dollars
1 illusion beast
2 berfomet king
1 mirrorjade
1 albion
1 lubellion
1 rindbrum 7 dollars
Im surprised no one mentioned this, but you can normal summon Aleister for less than a bonfire. Shaddoll was known for quite a while as one of the best budget decks with its trap variant, which can be bought for like $20 due to its structure and the 2021 mega tins, but nearly all variations of the deck can be bought main, side, and extra for less than $100.
Cheaper SP Little Knight is Pitknight Earlie. It has quick interaction with monsters and returns at the end of the turn to give you more arrows to pendulum summon to.
2:50 the funger sfx chant caught me off guard 😂
Orcust when it initially dropped before the sevond wave of support were pennies, you could get the entire deck core and three copies of Return for less than $30.
With reprints of Dingirsu and Girsu the entire core is incredibly cheap along with the scrap engine or mekk-knights.
This was the perfect video to find wanting to get back into the game. I knew MBT would have the key.

I hope one day the "but first" clap gets repeated 3 times before the sponsor read xD
I dunno why i thought of this but it sounded satisfying and funny in my head lol
I actually just built Madolche for the first time in years. It was JUST over $130 for me.
Just throw in the Dogmatika engine.
You can build Marincess AND Plunder for less than $130. At least local/regional ready lists
for plunder is runick necessary, adventure is a budget and also good option cause it protects your equips
BRING BACK BROKE BOY YUGIOH!! SHOW THEM THE WAY
0:09 too soon dire!
Here in Brazil I can pay a month of rent and still have leftovers with a single Bonfire.
and brazil isnt even that low income. imagine being venezuelan, yugioh cards better than their currency 😂 pay off a mortgage with them 😢
@@OsirusHandle I feel ya man. I feel ya.
@@OsirusHandleI heard World Of Warcraft currency is worth more than Venezualan $. Its crazy.
Tri Brigade is also pretty cheap, like $130.
My Dark World deck, minus the S:P, cost maybe $60-$80. And is pretty solid. But Droll exists. And it's solitaire, not YuGiOh.
SP is not necessary.
@@spicymemes7458 Exactly. Was saying it was the only expensive card in the deck (and only run it cuz I pulled it)
@@YourKingSkeletor Mukracker is more important to DW than SP imo. You got this.
@@YourKingSkeletor cool that you pulled it
Its really funny, i left a swordsoul comment on the thread that wasn't used, but i think i highlight how crazy bonfire's price is, i bout Swordsoul about 2 months ago for $128, with drolls right before the reprint was announced...
MBT: "Why did this tier 0 deck that was probably the best deck for several consecutive format just become completely unplayable when one power card got banned?"
Because the only reason anyone played those decks is they were tier 0 meta threats, no one actually liked playing with or against them so as soon as they stopped being the undisputed best pick people either migrated to decks they actually like or decks that do the same thing but are the new undisputed best at doing it
the thing is, spright was or still is the closest thing we will ever get to modern BA, and as far as toolbox enjoyers goes, we have exactly 3 decks to play rn, Spright(s variants), Rank 3 axis goblins, and exosister( rank 4 toolbox). In my locals its still popular cause the people who play them like me really like them, elf ban hurst, and roninban is super bad but we just splash another rank2 thing in. Its just the classic meta hoe shit. trust me pre snake eyes diverse formats there where around 40 decks viable most people don't know about cause its buried in discord channels. then tier 0 hits and welp , no wonder people just don't care to experiment.
i spend like 40 bucks for a complete nemleria deck. and it's actually better than people give it credit for
Good on you. This community doesn't know shit.
You could also play fire kings for a grand total of $30.
You know, the 2nd or 3rd best deck right now, and it's literally a structure deck.
Im late but if you take out thrust and replace it with the book of eclipse in the side deck (and get rid of the side deck) YOUR Ten Minute Testing ZARC list is only $112.
Im gonna get twitter just so I can participate in these threads
The Block button is your greatest ally there.

Dire, you can’t hurt me with the intro like that
While it isn't considered a top tier archetype I started looking through Icejade cards and supports and they are pretty cheap too...
Until you reach the best of staples and extra deck. Tactics thrust $90, Baronne $50, Accel Stardust $30 are the three main expensive ones I saw
But many of the other supports that work with it are cheap, such as Synchro Overtake into Deep Sea Diva combo or XYZ sharks for N.As.H.
I guess we’re just relegated to unplayable hell for the time being 🤷♂️🤷♂️
You can build spoilless fire kings for under that amount, maybe even add fenrir
nice little homage to matpat there.
Being a dedicated Dinomorphia player, Dinomorphia is underrated and the engine also works in Exo, Lab, Kash, Runik, and (I am not joking) Floo.
Dinomorphia Floo? I NEED to see this jank
pls as a old reliable floo user need to see that shit, i brick harder than darkworlds with base floo already lmao.
I was looking at Endymion decks, and all but one of them cost less than Bonfire.
literally bought my abyss actor core the other day for like $20 excluding staples, love that shit
FLOWER CARDIAN MENTIONED!!!
I'm on midrange Branded Despia and Swoswo. Don't need to buy S:P if your deck locks you out of it anyway!
Drytron topped our first local after the December banlist with like 5-0
Gotta appreciate the game theory intro card there
Ngl I was waiting for Dire to put Generaiders prices
I randomly built the dinomorphia deck on master duel and it was pretty fun, maybe it's the easy way to get back into the physical game
8 minute video and 2 minute ad, stonks
Ghoti is my choice for this prompt; I think the most expensive card currently is White Aura Whale @ $15. The PHNI cards aren't out yet ofc, but I don't expect them to cost all that much.
Plunder is my goat favorite deck. I would absolutely shell out for Adventure-Plunder. My only problem... there's no locals out here to play. so why bother buying physical cards if i can't play physical ygo
New Dinomorphia ten minute testing?! Let’s go!!
Feels wild to say after it was like a $500+ deck at one point, but with all the reprints recently you could build a competitive if not full power HERO core for the price of one bonfire.
