    • @mastermindepsilon9517

      He had him pegged and figured it out the moment he saw the Monarch with his big eyebrows walk over. He's not wearing his usual outfit, he's dressed to blend in, a ton of Dr Venture's arch's have died, and Red Death isn't a fool. Red Death has most assuredly been paying attention to these level 10's dropping dead and has figured out he's going to be targeted sooner or later. So he does some research and finds out about this really dedicated villain that used to arch Dr Venture. Even admires him once he sees some of the stuff he pulls, like the Marionette thing. Red Death definitely knew what was happening and knew Malcom was the Blue Morpho and said "He hasn't come after me yet, I expect him to, if I go after him now I could be wrong and that would be bad." So he waits his turn and the moment his family gets involved he storms over to the Blue Morpho's hide out, beneath the Fitzcarraldo household, and busts in the door. It all makes sense.

      We do see them talk later and Red Death admitting that he did kill his arch thus does understand the obsession thus why he doesn't turn the Monarch in even knowing he's been going and offing other level 10 baddies and is fine with stepping down over Venture and letting him try completing that work (thus why Monarch went after Wide Whale later... horribly failed at doing so but still tried) since he isn't exactly in a position to give him the right advice on how to stop needing to arch Venture.

    After several re-watches it finally hit me why The Red Death is level 10.
    It's not the flying horse. It's not the lighsaber scythe. It's not his canny cadaver-making skills or sheer dedication to making people into corpses. It's the mind.
    Red Death's been in the game for so long he's now playing 5-d chess like it's Snakes and Ladders with a loaded dice.
    First of all, he perfectly switches between completely non-threatening suburban dad and a murder-fueled monster. Like, to the point you start to think which one is the persona, the villain or the father.
    Second of all, he already knew Monarch might be Blue Morpho and that he might be coming for him, but didn't make a move even when Malcolm tried to pull a gun on him! He didn't see him reach for it, so he couldn't prove anything. But as soon as M-dog even mentioned his family he barged right into his secret lair, which he knew was there and tried to stop Malcolm. You'd think he would kill him, right? Nope! He gave him a pep-talk instead because he KNEW his wife is the closest thing Ths Guild has to a Sovereign now with proficiency in martial arts AND a pHd to boot.
    He used this to bond better with Sheila by saving The Monarch's life and ended up a full-time member of the council .
    And as a finishing touch he put himself in charge of delivering the hush-money to the Peril Partnership to make them back of, which he (I presume) pocketed and instead opted to cold-bloodedly murder one of their men by tying him to a train track, effectively scaring The Partnership into backing off instead.
    Now he has a cushy job, a pension and a college fund for his adorable daughter. Fuckin' A.

    I think what's really cool about Red Death is that he does an excellent job of representing two very different things. He's is a perfect representation of a lot of serial killers and mafia members. They're able to keep up a veneer of a happy normal life, just coming across as a charming ordinary guy even to people that see them every day... while at the same time doing all sorts of horrible shit.
    Yet at the same time, he's pretty much the ideal for anyone in a job with a lot of responsibility. When you're put in charge of people, you sometimes have to be a hardass even if you're a naturally laid-back person. It's important to learn how to separate your Work Self from your Home Self.

    What's so brilliant about Red Death is that even though he is one of the "big players", respected by both protagonist and antagonists alike, he is very humble, and enjoys the work of up and coming villains. Even though the Monarch has fallen on hard times, Red Death has followed his career, even compliments the him on some of his more elaborate arches. It's like he knows what it's like to hate a person with every fibre of your being, and loves to watch other villains. He is leagues beyond anything the Monarch could pull off, but it's wonderful that he follows the work of other Guild members, even finds himself enjoying it somewhat.

    Just, wow, what a class act. It kinda makes one wonder just what it was Red Death conquered in his past to keep him so straight-laced, so professional. I mean, this is person you see at work that both intimidates you while inspiring you to do better, just couldn't meet a nicer chap, but.. jesus, there's something in their past that keeps 'em motivated and perhaps that is the mystery of the age.
    Just what keeps a person honest, dedicated and one-hundred percent blood-chillingly driven to do their best?

    • @EmptyMan000
      @EmptyMan000 6 років тому +98

      That's not a mystery. It's explained in his episode. He once had an archenemy he hated so much it was all he could think about and then one day went to his archenemy's home, looked him in the eye, and crushed his enemy's skull with his bare hands and slaughtered his family before burning his enemy's home to the ground. After that he knew he had to control himself to properly do his job and tried to find a balance. He's professional to keep himself from going completely insane.

Red Death off the clock, incredibly supportive and you'd happily accept his invitation to a barbeque and invite him and his family to yours and a great time would be had by all at both.
