I'm Bcom+CA intermediate student.... Recently I found out Abt Actuarial science and I really want to do this course and quit CA..... I'm in last year of bcom. And I'm planning to write ACET now... Since it would take minimum 2-3 years for me to complete 2-4 papers of Actuary, shd I do Masters after my bcom? Bcs some people said Bcom+ actuary is not good option to get a job... If yes, then shd I do Mcom or masters in stats or maths? I really love mathematics and statistics both....
Hi, It is actually possible to clear 2-4 papers in a year itself, if you are good at maths and prepare well. Also because you are a CA student, you might find it comparatively easier to study a few subjects or topics of subjects like CM2, CB1, CB2. So, In my opinion, graduation in bcom + few actuarial exam pass (preferably CM1, CS1) + good computer (Excel/R) and communication skills can get you an entry level actuarial job, and won’t need to do post graduation. But still, if you wish to have a backup option then you can pursue Masters in Stats/Maths or any quantitative subject, from a college with good placements.

i am pursing Msc stati and i completed bsc maths . so what is the procedure for me to go into actuarial science.Is there any paper exemption .which actuarial body is better for carrier growth as an actuaral scientist
Hi Yash, you can take membership with any of the actuarial institutes. Usually Indian students take membership with the Indian institute of Actuaries (IAI) or the UK one (IFoA) or the US societies. And clear a few actuarial exams. For IAI, there is an additional ACET (Actuarial Common Entrance Test) that you need to pass to get the membership. You can then start applying for actuarial entry level jobs through LinkedIn or other job portals.
For ACET (entrance exam for IAI), class 12th level maths is needed. For rest of the exams, maths is not compulsory. Commerce students can take up actuarial science

Hi, during your non-working hours and days, try to give priority to studies. Plan your study schedule in advance. Practice lots of past papers.
