I haven’t read anything by Patrick Ness, but I have seen the movie and I bawled in the theater.
For me, the book that genuinely made me cry was Paul Young’s “The Shack”.

Yeah, I'm remembering now that's why I didn't see the movie: I didn't want to cry in public. 😅
I've heard The Shack is really good!

@ It’s an incredible book. It’s actually the first book I read that planted the seed for me when I started to deconstruct my faith.

Been watching some of your new videos, and glad to see that youre covering this book as well! I really loved it as well (wasn't as big a fan of the adaptation, but appreciated the artistry from it visually), and quite like Patrick Ness's writing style and themes he delves into with his work.
More Than This is actually the first book I read by Ness, which is quite similar to A Monster Calls in some aspects regarding death but for an older YA audience, which I highly reccomend as well if you're looking for something a bit more experimental at the moment..

So excited to hear you liked More Than This! I haven't read it, but have been wanting to for a while. Experimental is my jam. =D Glad to hear it's good!

@FayeFiteFiction Thanks so much! It also covers themes regarding mental health and gender/sexual identity as well which are handled in an interesting way too.
